@GlassShine Alt text: Cat person next to a train station loudspeaker. Loudspeaker: 'Peem Poom, Train [unintelligible static] to platform [unintelligible], Peem Poom'. Cat person is visibly worried that might have been something important
@GlassShine
me when
peem poom sounds appear regularily during a train ride and no messages follows:
others:

me: others don't now its my phone, sounding like DB announcement sounds.

@fabos @GlassShine that's cheeky...

  • Personally, I had the M1 Garand clip ejection sound for some time and people looked as if someone dropped a toolbox or something.
@GlassShine Peem poom is a way better way to reprsent it than the traditional "ding dong"!

@GlassShine Every rail commuter knows it. It's been a long day. You hope that at least the train home won't cause any problems (again). Then an ‘important announcement’, the main text of which is acoustically incomprehensible. Until the relieving boarding, you are constantly anxious that you were meant and could now have a problem.

@GlassShine me in the French listening iGCSE exam:
@GlassShine haha it reminds me of a time when the subway's onboard announcements were, one station after the other: "Next station: *loud static noise*"
