Today I broke up the last of a xiaguan iron cake. I'm not sure how to approach the rest of my puer stash because I don't know the future of Chinese tea availability. I'm going to start mixing some local Asian grocery store oolong and green tea finds into my rotation. Can folks recommend any labels to look out for? I will ofc share my own discoveries, too.

@tea also I meant to mention: I've never bought Darjeeling. Any tips on how to shop for Darjeeling?

@parslii @tea I recommend https://www.teekampagne.de which ist a German company, where you can get big packs of Darjeeling for a good prices. But most of my Darjeeling I buy at https://betty-darling.net (German only). Here you can get Tea from different Gardens.

@parslii I’m sorry to say I used to buy oolongs in NYC Chinese grocery stores, but I gave up maybe ten years ago. The quality just wasn’t there.

@parslii @tea Does it taste similar to Dayi?
@innoera @tea Yo. Dayi and Xiaguan are two different companies that sell puer. They each have their own recipes. That being said, this is an aged puer. A Dayi sheng aged in similar conditions might taste similar to this.
@parslii @tea Thank you for your response. I asked if they taste similar. I'm aware of the differences.
