I understand that “sportsball” is incredibly unpopular here on lemmy because yall are a bunch of nerds, but rory mcilroy accomplished something today that is extremely unusual and deserves recognition.

MisterFrogIndeed, I find Sportsball not terribly interesting, and think it gets too much pride of place in news media (not being able to separate Sports from “Breaking News” push notifications on the Guardian app back when I had it, comes to mind. Grumble, grumble).
I don’t begrudge anyone who enjoys it though. Everyone has their own interests!
For selfish reasons, I’m pretty glad Lemmy isn’t terribly interested. It saves me from having to filter out the biggest sports communities like I had to on Reddit.
It’s more like an illustration of Reddit turning into a useless bunch of fluff. I don’t know anything about golf or that guy, it just happened to be the top fluff when I posted.
I love sports, especially combat sports, and have participated in lots of sports. I played (actually more sat on the bench) sports at a D1 college. But I understand and respect that lots of people DGAF about sports. Because I DGAFF about golf. It is a stupid bougie game, not a sport, and wastes a lot of resources. So I understand that folks don’t like sports in general.
There are plenty of valid reasons to find sports boring. Yes playing some in person is fun but it’s totally valid to dislike watching or hearing about them.

Best description of golf I’ve heard is that it’s “A good walk spoiled”.
Swedneckall golf courses could be turned into lovely detailed botanical gardens/arboretums where everyone could take lovely walks and have picnics for free.

Really. One thing about a ghost gun is that you can dispose of it and not worry about being connected to it. So why keep it if the reason you had it in the first place is that it can’t be traced to you. However if you want to frame someone, a ghost gun can be used because it could be anyone’s.
