Please learn from the horrible choice many US voters made! 🙏
@Jgmeadows 🇨🇦 “the only issue that matters is electing a government that will not bend the knee to Trump. If we screw that issue up, all other issues become moot”
If you are Canadian, find out who won your riding last time. If they were Liberal, NDP, or Green, vote for them again. If not, vote Liberal, unless the NDP or Green were a close second last time.
The goal is to embarrass the Conservatives so the Maple MAGAts never get into power.
@Jgmeadows I’m honestly really afraid for CA; so many here who hated Trump still decided Harris “didn’t deserve” their vote; she didn’t make an explicit statement for Palestine, so they sat the whole thing out (nevermind what Trump DID say about a Gaza resort, and many other vulnerable groups.) I don’t know if the RU propaganda farms are as active there as here, but I hear a worrying lot of implicit “unlike the US, it could never happen here” denialism.
Rooting for you all from Texas.
@Jgmeadows So a lot of Russian-backed storylines filtering through there then. To clarify I don’t think a majority of our horrible politics AREN’T homegrown, but there’s been a trend of RU, MK impersonation farms pretending to be US POC telling people not to vote and sully their hands in our bloody system, and it was a significant voter suppression campaign in 2016.
NZ really had it right forbidding any Murdoch media all those years.
In my riding, the last couple of Federal elections, the Liberals and NDP got almost the same votes, at about 14% each.
The Conservatives got 51%.
Today, they're polling at 56%, NDP has collapsed to 6%, Liberals soared to 33%
The fringe parties have collapsed as well.
So I'm just going to vote for the least bad party, IMO, the NDP, mostly as moral support and "no" to a two-party system.
I've been dealing with insomnia, so I get it!
I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight!
@EricLawton @Jgmeadows Yikes Eric, did a quick search on your riding 😳
What a nightmare.
I'll also get no sleep tonight ;)
Yeah, my MP had the "honour" of being the first MP to announce support for PP when he ran for the CPC leadership.
😡
There's no useful tactical vote here. If there was any chance the Liberals would win, I'd vote for them.
Our MP, Jamie Schmale is right-wing but very well-known and well-liked in the community, because he has done a lot of work to help with personal problems with government over the years.
The Liberal and NDP candidates are unknown.
Strategic is long term, so that's what I am going for,
Have a "great Canadian" day.
I agree in your situation there’s not much that can be done. What bugs me is ridings where the Liberals and NDP are neck and neck, trailing the CPC.
I do think a Liberal victory is better for the NDP than a CPC victory. The federal NDP need time to find a new leader (Angus please!!) and spend some introspection time reinventing themselves. A Liberal victory would give them some breathing room.
Under Poilievre, the clock would be ticking on Canada’s demise.
I agree. The NDP needs to do some serious re-thinking. Especially to make the Greens unnecessary, so as to split the vote less.
But we ***have*** to get rid of FPTP, artificial majorities or we keep getting large minorities unrepresented, and majority parties with near absolute power to their leader.
