Just your regular reminder ALL this crap would stop almost completely if literally a handful of Republican senators or representatives joined the democrats.
But they're ALL complicit right now in the destruction of US democracy, science, education, economy, and respect.
@petergleick They are too busy looking for their balls.
@petergleick 10 years on and no one bothers to talk about what Putin must have given trump on the whole party.

@delProfundo @petergleick

I've had theories about the actual function of the Young Republicans for decades

@darwinwoodka @petergleick I love how Maria butina, who was a Russian spy having sexual relations with old republicans is a politician in Russia now. Give me a break and go read the mueller report..is what I find myself saying to people weekly.
@petergleick not to mention a handful of Democrat senators who also need to join the Democrats
@petergleick
Soooooo.... you're saying they're Republicans.
Got it!
We have a government of billionaires, by billionaires and for billionaires » Senator Bernie Sanders

By: Sen. Bernie Sanders; Fox News Look at what’s happening all around us and see if ‘efficiency’ is the major goal of these billionaires All of us owe Donald Trump and Elon Musk a deep debt of gratitude.  For a very long time the big money interests, under Democratic and Republican administrations, have dominated our government […]

Senator Bernie Sanders

@Npars01 @petergleick

Well, they seem to be doing a pretty good job of setting up the conditions for everything to end up in a smoking crater.

Whatever they think they’re going to keep it it’s going to be very interesting when there’s no there there to control

I have half of mine to just start barking like a sovereign individual of these guys start running around. They probably think I was one of them and just leave me completely alone to do whatever I felt like..

@petergleick First we have to stop the god damned democrats from joining the republicans.
@crazyeddie @petergleick I got another solicitation today from the Democrats. Why would I ever send those spineless cowards a penny #WhatOppositionParty
who is accountable - we all kind of are, gradually the perfect storm will arise and i think we will see backlash and rebound of more traditional politics. all he has to do is leave mkts alone and golf compulsively and not bomb anyone - pretty much unless a pearl harbor event happens. things will unwind - centrist and non partisan debt #when politics became tmz
@petergleick I emailed my chicken shit republican senators who haven't held a town hall in months to vote no on the save act. I have requested a response and doubt I'll hear back from them. My rep is brain dead so I've given up on his ass.
@petergleick
Maybe U.S. Republican Party politicians don't look at news from the outside world. If they did, they would know how worried the world is about their (in)sanity. And why they elected this gang of clowns.
In charge of health: an antivax nitwit.
In charge of worldwide foreign policy: someone with zero experience outside Florida.
In charge of roads and bridges: a "reality" TV star, athlete, no knowledge about bridge construction, opposed to pay good wages for builders.

@petergleick and if Democrats stopped siding with Republicans.

But they won't, because they are deadset on being the Washington Generals...

@petergleick why would it stop. Congress says something, Trump does something else. What then?
@petergleick
It will continue if we only blame trump and his hand choosen "goons". We need to start call ALL REPUBLICANS out for their compliance in the destruction. Consistently shame them by name, instead of allowing them to hide behind trump.
It's not trump, it's all of them!
@petergleick The Republicans are no longer a political party; they're the Cult of Trump. And I find it most disturbing!

@soulexpress @petergleick

They've been like this for a decade right?

And they were the tea party before that, right?

Nothing new.

#cdnpoli #canada #mexico #fascism #antifa #elbowsup

@Maxfieldripken @petergleick Maybe it's just me, but the GOP seems worse now than even during Trump's first term. At least then, some Republicans were still willing to work with Democrats and call Trump out on his bullshit. That's no longer the case.

@soulexpress @petergleick

So true

Also, #BigHands came out full fascist with the Jan20 EO flurry of hate this time

That horrible EO with the 90 day insurrection study will certainly lead to posse comitatus ending

If he deploys troops on the Canadian border, our declining numbers will nosedive by May

It's bad enough TSA goons intimidate Canadians in pre-clearance IN our international airports.

1 military uniform with a gun at the border, will scare away even many of the Nexus pass holders.

@petergleick Yes, but don't ignore the fact that dems allowed all this to happen. Bc they knew they and their elite donors would profit off his corruption. And don't be surprised when they help trump to make the rich richer

@petergleick

Politicians don't give up power & that's true for public servants and villains like Trump.

Lets be honest. America's 1st republic is over. If we ever reestablish the rule of law we will be in the era of the 2nd republic.

We lost the republic, it happened on our watch.

Trump accomplished what the Confederacy could'nt-- defeat the union, smash the Constitution and end checks and balances.

Really, it took a convicted felon to overthrow our nation. Putin won the cold war.

@Dave_Goldsmith @petergleick

"Truth’s Victory

But today I can reveal to you a simple and powerful truth.

A tyrant’s only ally is fear.

Just as in a fairytale where the villain cannot exist unless you believe in it, tyranny cannot exist unless you fear it.

Whether fear of personal oppression or phantom enemies presented by the state, terror must be maintained or the cohesion of authoritarian control always disintegrates.

And so today I say to you that the way to victory is easy.

Just stand up and fight.

Unlike our founding fathers, we are not asked to forge towards the defeat of some implacable enemy through fields and valleys awash with filth and blood. We are not asked to leave our homes, our land, and our families on an almost certainly fatal journey with little hope of return. And we are not asked to die the brutal and agonizing death of so many anonymous patriots, whose last anguished cry was freedom, alone on some cold and desolate battlefield.

No my friends, all we are asked to do is stand up and fight with our voices and our unaltered votes.

My fellow citizens, the truth is that the Constitution fails to defend itself, enduring only in the brave hearts of those who would uphold it.

So today I ask every American within the sound of my voice, or reach of my words, to once again stand as one people, with one voice, with one conscience, and one purpose, and demand the immediate and unconditional restoration of our government of the people, by the people, for the people, and visible to the people.

Today I ask every American registered with the Republican or Democratic parties to immediately abandon those failed institutions and register as a non-partisan voter. Today I ask that from this day forward, we, as a united people, vote only for those candidates who pledge to immediately restore our Constitutional Republic.

These are the keys to the kingdom my friends, which we have always held. It just seems that, for awhile, we had forgotten how to turn them.

Yes, it’s time to empty our secret prisons. Let us free the innocent, and justly convict the guilty.

And let history record that in that darkest hour, when loss predeemed history, providence again praised freedom. Providence, and the righteous will and might of the American people."

Any Republican elected to federal office could win historic and durable acclimation if they stopped supporting this couptastrophe and caucused with Democrats to stop it

Free Radical
@petergleick
They’ve been officially complicit since Impeachments One $ Two.
@petergleick 22 to impeach, or 20 if the independents also join.
@petergleick
Destruction of the US is the point. They want to bring back the Confederacy.
@petergleick So chase them until they capitulate.
@petergleick It's all about the money... there's such a disconnection and lack of empathy for the working class for the sort of people in those positions.

@petergleick Genuine question, from someone under a whole different system, where we can get rid of PMs and government mid term, but what can they actually do to stop him? Can they actually force a president out of office? One who isn't willing to resign I mean.

I know they have control of budgets, but what if Trump just overrides them? And ignores the courts too? And then starts arresting the senators and reps? What can the US actually do against a rogue president, short of a military coup?

@beecycling @petergleick Only the House has the power to impeach, but this particular House, with a slim Repub majority, won’t do that because they *agree* with Tя☭mp (and they’re scared of him)

He’s already ignoring Congress (his EO’s have no real legal basis or weight but everyone pretends they do), and so far, SCOTUS is upholding his views just enough to enable him to do more damage.

No one wants violence, but no one will be surprised if it comes to that either.

just my opinion

@petergleick and the Dems that keep "reaching across the aisle" are doubly so.
The ones not blocking every single action? The ones going on tour instead of actually blocking actions? Just more Vichy France.
@petergleick @maj But IIUC, before that, the Democrats need to join themselves 🙁

@petergleick

Just misled."

@petergleick And if the entrenched core Democrats found a spine.
