Just had an interesting idea floated to me.

“Hooey”, as in “a buch of hooey” (bullshit)

A friend told me that his mother told him (already strating strong there…) that “hooey” used to be a euphemism for “where someone... ‘went’ ”, (meaning shite). The suggestion being that the term comes from irish “chuaigh" for "went.

So now I'm wondering if that has any truth to it, or if it's a bunch of hooey. 😅

@nena @MadSc13ntist Well the etymological dictionary has 'unknown origin' (and they're usually pretty good for having a trace to root words where they can) so that story is now canon as far as I'm concerned. #hooey #chuaigh
