At the risk of igniting some controversy, but hopefully stimulating debate, I’d like to ponder the question: #Meshtastic and #LoRa mesh networks in general, #MeshCore, #Reticulum etc. … Are they “Amateur Radio”? #HamRadio - I know the technical UK answer “No, unless on 433MHz with the “Licensed Operator” setting on, with amateur license; no encryption, so no Reticulum allowed”. I’ll leave the question a bit open like that without further qualifications. Please boost for visibility! 73 Matt
@M0CUV My amateur understanding is that only a #licenced #radio #ham is, e.g. in Germany, allowed to transmit at higher power than the 500 mW ( = 27 dBm ) allowed by all; but then in that case only without encryption. Therefore if you stick to the "public" power parameters ( https://www.loramesh.org/#settings ) , a #lora mesh is fine with encryption. Some info is put together here https://www.loramesh.org/#law
