Dumbass YouTubers.

If you would stop thinking about #MotorVehicles as status objects which need to travel at high speeds for long distances, and start thinking of them as utilitarian #transportation devices, you will realize that everything that is wrong with the motor vehicle industry is the assumption that every vehicle needs to be able to travel 100+ mph for 300+ miles on a single tank/charge. Try to remember that the most popular motor vehicle in the world is STILL the Honda Super Cub.

The most produced line of motor vehicles in the entire history of motor vehicles is the Honda Cub. The current Honda Super Cub C125 ABS model has been in production since 2019, sells for $3900 USD MSRP, and has a 124 cc single-cylinder engine. It holds 1 US gal of gasoline, good for about a 100 mile range, and has a top speed of 65 mph.

Now make it electric and get rid of the licensing, registration, and insurance requirements. Even if it went half the speed and half as far, I'd still want one.

With a trunk and saddlebags or baskets large enough to transport as much as my ebike can currently carry, this would be the perfect around town vehicle for me.

With a 50 mph range, I could even get to the next nearest shopping towns to my rural town (30-40 mi away), and charge it while I shop.

My standard for necessary cargo capacity is a standard 22x14x9" rollaboard suitcase and a standard 18x14x10" underseat personal item, per passenger.

My two preferred #suitcases are the TravelPro FlightCrew 5 22" (non-expandable) Rollaboard, and Platinum Elite Carry-On Regional Rollaboard (which fits the underseat space). This is the max amount of #luggage most US domestic #airlines will permit a passenger to bring as cabin #baggage, so this is how much cargo capacity any vehicle should have as a bare minimum, per passenger, so that one can reach another mode of #transit or #transport.

#transportation #travel

It's a convenient metric, since it also can be substituted with a #handbag, #briefcase, and a couple of bags of #groceries on the way home from the office, or a package to be dropped off at the post office for mailing.

Of course, in my case, I also would like to be able to #transport the smaller #suitcase and my #bass #guitar in her gig bag.

Not coincidentally, it's also about the same volume a child will occupy in a vehicle.
