These protest feels like white folks trying to make themselves feel better about voting for a bigot. Because if they really wanted to stop what was happening, they could.

But they are just gonna walk around and shout for a few hours.

Ok.

These protests feel performative because there is no rage behind them. It’s just ‘hey let’s go do something on the weekend.’

We’ve been subjected to watching the most inhumane conflict in our lifetimes while watching purveyors of genocide laugh at state functions.

Kids are getting snatched off the streets for doing the right thing.

The wealthy have gained over a trillion dollars of resources while telling us simple programs like universal healthcare are ‘impossible.’

We’ve seen white man after white man get arrested for fucking with kids.

Lives have been destroyed by fools plundering civic institutions.

But these protests will be over in a matter of hours without incident and no pressure out on the people who laugh while they dehumanize us.

There’s no anger in any of these protests. Folks just don’t like being inconvenienced by bigots who don’t respect anything.

I want to see fury that makes these politicians that are laughing at us afraid.

I want to see anger about the exploitation and violence we are subjected as if it’s normal.

I want to see rage that we are expected to just keep working while watching a madman mow down women and children.

I don’t want to see quiet and clever signs made by people that have the time and disposable income to create them.

I want to see shit burn because we are collectively sick of this shit.

Anything less than that is just tacit complicity.
