US embassies to contractors worldwide: Cancel any diversity programs or risk going unpaid

US embassies have sent letters to contractors in their host countries demanding they certify that they do not run any diversity, equity and inclusion programs that violate Donald Trump’s executive order against race- and sex-based preferences.

CNN
@glynmoody Agreed. They’ll soon learn what happens when people stop supplying them.
However, I saw a headline in the Washington Post suggesting that the letters were merely an administrative issue and did not need to be complied with. I don’t believe that for a minute. I think they were trying it on and have been caught out by the backlash.
@RabBrucesSpider1 "merely an administrative issue" - as if...

@glynmoody Only one US embassy per country. Pretty sure economies will withstand not doing business with them.

In any case, how does the Trumpified State Dept intend to enforce this "be racist or we'll stiff you like Trump stiffs businesses" edict?

Other countries have their own laws about equitable hiring practices. Perhaps they should shoot off a memo to the local AmEmbassy telling them contractors are banned from signing contracts with it unless it certifies its adherence to those laws.

@Corb_The_Lesser indeed, totally outrageous in every way
@glynmoody
Cancel diversity programs and go unpaid, regardless, because Trump.
@quoidian yes, he has a terrible record for paying

@glynmoody I mean, I think the answer is even better than that. Don't acquiesce, continue to uphold their half of the contract, take them to court.

Remember, America is circling the drain but the very last thing holding on will be capitalism. Courts will still uphold contracts.

@glynmoody
Advice to contractors: cash in advance.
@glynmoody This is what the expression "pound sand" was invented for.
