That's spectacular: The partially eclipsed Sun rising over the St Lawrence River in Quebec, captured on March 29. Video by Jason Kurth.

(I sped up the footage 4x for the impatient...like myself.)

APOD: 2025 April 1 – A Double Sunrise from a Partial Eclipse

A different astronomy and space science related image is featured each day, along with a brief explanation.

@coreyspowell

I did wonder if anyone was going to be able to capture this! 😲

There is a near total eclipse in may area on August 2026 however we practiced on this one πŸ™‚

@coreyspowell You really kind of expect the face of Lucifer to rise up over the horizon there.

@ChuckMcManis

It's exceptionally creepy!

@coreyspowell that must have been terrifying before we had science.
@coreyspowell ...wow, beautiful....and rare? I presume?

@havvyhh2

Capturing an eclipse at sunrise is a really tough shot, and the weather has to collaborate perfectly. There are a few others though, such as:

@coreyspowell ...another great shot that!

@coreyspowell

This looks eerily familiar as a massive fan of Japanese role playing games.

All I need is an atmospheric boss theme. πŸ˜„

@coreyspowell Good god, is that Trump peaking over the border?
Does @godpod know the answer?
@coreyspowell
That's incredibly beautiful!!!
