- J.L. Melenchon is a master demagogue that has spread healthy progressive eco-collectivist stuff, united french left (NUPES), and launched a constitutional refoundation movement.

- He has revealed a potential authoritarian personnality ("La République c'est moi !") when a storm perquisition at his home was made. His autocratic attitude tends to divide his own ranks. His presidential candidacy may be ambivalent.

- Socialist Party (PS) opportunist acts in particular shatter the NUPES.

- J.L. Melenchon is potentially out of the way. Left candidates with lower potential or seen as opportunists will be available for presidential election, making their success chances low at the moment.

- Macron shifted from loathed authoritarian to glorious international hero. (damn he's good)
