Our old dishwasher broke last weekend. Replacement arrived today and not a moment too soon!

Taking the old one away and installing the new took around 30 minutes including test wash.

Taking it out and feeding power cable through worktop, 30 minutes

Finding out our water hardness, in a format that matches the instruction manual, an amazing 15 minutes! (manual uses mmol/L or E rating; most websites uses ppm)

Setting up the app 15 minutes. (I admire Bosch: the manual states what minimal information is uploaded to the cloud and why, and says cloud connection is not required for operation.. I may block it in the firewall just to be sure)

Initial run of the machine with empty load on high setting: 3 hours

Setting up #homeassistant integration best part of an hour (create dev account for Home Connect; install Home Connect Alt integration; configure; tweak dashboard to show current programme).

First actual wash about to finish.

I should add, old dishwasher was 16 years old, had something very noisy go wrong, several other problems, and would likely have cost more to repair than replace.

You could have had a real future-proof dishwasher, if you just had waited a tiny bit more! They're on it!
