#ListeningClub oh on a different note. Adolescence on Netflix is *really* good

@ogili I haven't watched it yet but I watched the intro of episode one when I found out each episode was one continuous real time shot... Incredible choreography

#ListeningClub

@ThatNewSound incredible acting, and writing. Quite unsettling at times, especially watching as a parent.

@ThatNewSound @ogili I've watched 3 eps and planning on finishing it off tonight (see my t/l for earlier remarks).

Incredible TV - each episode like a self-contained stage play. Technically brilliant, but also an incredibly important subject and topic. Really got conversations flowing, just hope they're happening across all of society and not just in particular demographic pockets

@corin_ja @ThatNewSound 100%, really important subject. Also a huge reminder to keep tabs on what your kid(s) are upto online.

@ogili @ThatNewSound yeah, my other half and I watched ep3 earlier and as parents of a daughter had a bit of a concerned convo. But of course, parents have _always_ been concerned about their kids, and there have _always_ been moral panics around tech & sub-cultures. Nonetheless, I think some really useful convos are lighting up on the back of this. Here's a piece my mate wrote (paywall, but only £1 for a test subscription)

We’re getting the ‘manosphere’ all wrong – and here’s why

Young men have been social scapegoats for generations, writes Saul Parker, but we’re missing why they turn to misogynistic content – to escape the situation they find themselves in

@corin_ja @ThatNewSound yeah, same. We've had a no social media policy (although she does have a YT channel attached to my YT account which she posts up video edits of Swiftie things, but I monitor that) and that's going to continue until I can't use the 'look the terms conditions say you have to be this old' excuse anymore
@ogili interesting thing is that not having a boy child and my daughter goes to an all-girls school I don’t feel that I have much insight into the subject of the show directly but feel for obvious reasons possibly over-concerned in terms of her safety & growing up in this world with boys & men influenced this way. I’m not so much concerned with her social media intake as that of those she might encounter
