This isn’t the first time New York has tried to ban masks. Both Hochul and Mayor Adams have previously said they want to ban masks, with Adams using Luigi Mangione as an excuse to push for them a few months ago.

Mask bans don’t stop crime. They just stop people from safely accessing public spaces:
