As the #CoomeraConnector / #SecondM1 motorway duplication project in Gold Coast is nearing partial opening later this year, the "find out" phase of FAFO has started. Local councillors and state MPs, who pushed for the new road are now doubling down and requesting even more hundreds of millions $ to be spent on extending it past Coomera, to Yawalpah Rd, and widening a local Helensvale Rd, or else we will have "trafic chaos", "gridlock", "bedlam" and "ruin".
Imagine the Gold Coast council or the Queensland government seriously considered my petitions against Second M1, and instead extended light rail from Helensvale to Pimpama.
It would take about 1/6 of the width of the transport corridor, could have had grass track bed, not destroy the koala corridor, not bring pollution and noise, transport thousands of people without road rage.
Today residents of Helensvale, Coomera, Pimpama would be looking forward to it opening soon.
