Last year, we found that @OpenAlex was mistakenly marking some papers as retracted—misleading researchers. We @hauschke reported the issue, posted a preprint in March 2024, and… #OpenAlex fixed it almost instantly! 👏

Meanwhile, our peer-reviewed paper on this? Published today - over a year later. See the difference? Preprints matter. Open science works.

@serhii @hauschke On this occasion @OpenAlex changed reports?
Tried for over a year to correct my profile. Was mixed up with abother researcher.
No success so far.

So you see me really surprised.

@M In our case, the @OpenAlex team responded very promptly and competently. I found my profile https://openalex.org/authors/a5042643173 and saw the Send Feedback button. Perhaps try again to report the problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. 🤞
OpenAlex

@serhii @OpenAlex Saw this button and used it. More than once.

@M @serhii @OpenAlex

In our case they realized the stake of this error really extremely quick and it was solved I think on the evening of the same day.

It's really a huge benefit of open research information that we were even able to find the mistake. I cannot just download Web of Science or Scopus to analyze the whole corpus. And others would not be able to replicate my investigations if they don't have the same licences etc.

Did you write a ticket to OpenAlex?

#OpenResearchInformation

@hauschke @serhii @OpenAlex I do love all these features.

But its pointless when the data are incorrect.

I wrote tickets. Not just one.

@M @serhii @OpenAlex

I beg to differ. It's not pointless. The processes just need to be improved. OpenAlex still has a long way to go, I agree totally on that. But I am really optimistic that it can be done.

I am a bit impatient when it comes to such things. But I try to keep in mind that WoS and Scopus have a lot of more years to get where they are currently. And we don't have the means to change anything or even use it, if we don't pay huge amounts of money.
