New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is sending the National Guard to the New York City subway system to help police search passengers’ bags for weapons. Wednesday's move follows a series of high-profile crimes in the system. The Democrat says she will deploy 750 members of the National Guard and 250 state troopers and transit officers to help the New York Police Department check bags at subway entrances. It is part of a larger plan from the governor’s office to address crime on the subway. It includes a legislative proposal to ban people from trains for three years if they are convicted of assaulting a subway passenger.

(Okay, yeah, this one is super debatable. On one hand, you really have to be careful about overriding the will of voters, and there’s wisdom in proceeding cautiously. On the other hand, it’s Eric fucking Adams! Come on!)

In a way, it's good that Newsom keeps showing his true colors like this. Hopefully one of these days he'll just go full Nazi and get disqualified from the Dem race in four years. He really should just go run as a Republican.
@Mikal I really do hope this spells the end of his political career. And I hope that if he runs for another office, POTUS or otherwise, that he’ll be eaten alive before the primaries.
At the very least, he can’t run for another term as governor here. Come 2027, we’ll be rid of him, and hopefully someone with actual principles and an actual conscience will take his place.

WTAF is wrong with California anyway? I switched my vote to Arizona since it matters more here but I still spend part of the year in California and have to deal with whatever bullshit comes out of Sacramento. My real fear is that he will be the Democratic candidate for president and then, being in Arizona, I'll have to hold my nose and vote for him. Not sure I could bring myself to do it.
