What's the best #FOSS remote desktop thing out there right now?

It would be nice if it could also transport audio (and usb!), and do (usable...) 3D accel on the remote.

@craftyguy probably not the best solution for you problem, but i know https://pikvm.org/ and https://rustdesk.com/
KVM over IP - PiKVM

PiKVM is the most advanced and open KVM over IP in the world. Get a BIOS-level remote control over your server.

@craftyguy RustDesk and Remotely are both open source, thats all i can name off the top of my head

@craftyguy X2go in kdrive mode if you want an all in one (no usb though and the x2goclient is … err … it works but needs some love).

Note: If you are on wayland start the x2goclient without the WAYLAND_DISPLAY variable, it comes from a world where only X11 exists.

@craftyguy +1 for rustdesk (software). Hooking up a PiKVM or a JetKVM is a great option too (hardware).

@craftyguy

  • waypipe
  • pipewire / pulseaudio
  • usb/ip

😉

@craftyguy when I had to do it I think I used VNC, no idea if it's fully FOSS or not though
