Three tropical cyclones are spinning in the South Pacific, an occurrence that scientists say is unusual. Trees were knocked down in Fiji from Tropical Cyclone Rae and the Australian state of Queensland is bracing for flooding rainfall from Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The third cyclone in motion is Seru, which just formed Tuesday and is expected to track near the island nation of Vanuatu. Scientists say it's hard to flesh out the exact reasons that explain this trio of storms, but high activity is expected for this time of year.
