Is *this* government efficiency?

Police guarding a Tesla dealership in Chicago.

We got the Robocop Omnicorp future!!

@selzero That looks like a very welcoming retail environment, obviously my first choice of shop to walk into to buy a car.

Just like I don't go into a pub if it has a bouncer on the door - if it's that dangerous then there are plenty of other pubs which aren't.

@TimWardCam @selzero The cops are apparently crypto-protestersโ€”they donโ€™t want anyone to shop with Musk either!
@Cowthulu @TimWardCam @selzero I hate the way the meaning of "crypto" has been destroyed by people too lazy to say "currency".
@selzero I bet those police spawn from the swasticar store, it's like a nazi barracks from an RTS game

@selzero

At least it's not Judge Dredd. I don't want to eat the recycled food.

@eswag @selzero

It's good for the environment, and ok for you!

@selzero

Someone in that police departments management structure is a Trump sycophant. They needs to be removed from office.

There is no way that level of protection for a private building can be justified.

I wonder if Tesla dealerships can't get insurance at the moment? ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@simonzerafa @selzero so hire private security. Why are we subsidizing billionaires?

@passwordsarehard4 @simonzerafa @selzero

billionaires became billionaires through subsidies or gifts of the public goods from the administration, that's nothing new, it is just in plain sight on this picture.

@Alexandrad1 @passwordsarehard4 @simonzerafa @selzero to paraphrase Brecht, behind every great fortune lies a great crime.

@passwordsarehard4 @selzero

Bingo. Someone finally asked the right question.

Because corruption is the answer.

Phony Stark can hire his own security and pay the elevated insurance fees. If there is a security issue its his fault for embracing and enabling fascism.

@simonzerafa
Every big city police department in the US is lead by MAGA sycophants.
@selzero Ok, but considering how much explosives and weapons Americans have, anyone a rocket launcher at hand?

@agowa338 @selzero

Rocket launchers are needlessly complicated, what you want is a spud gun.

Can be built in an hour or less using off the shelf components

Can fire anything from potatoes to tennis balls to bottles filled with w/e

I strongly advise against making one that will hold beer bottles, filling empty bottles with gasoline/Styrofoam mix, sealing a fuse into the mouth of the bottle with melted candle wax, feeding said fuse through a small hole in the launchers combustion chamber to serve dual use as a firing mechanism and payload igniter

@TeflonTrout @selzero

I was more referring to movies. Basically in any patriotic movie they use a rocket launcher.

E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woDjI7sIz4c

White House Down: Film Clip "I Lost The Rocket Launcher"

YouTube
@TeflonTrout @agowa338 @selzero that sounds like an excellent way to set yourself on fire.
@selzero Ehrm... what, why? I'm not an expert but: why so many people? Don't they have more efficient ways than a meat wall to prepare to control a crowd? Like say mobile barriers? Also, usually you see people in full riot gear if there's so many cops required to handle a situation?
@selzero They're not bricks we're throwing, just market signals... Made out of bricks lol.

@selzero 2 cops wouldnโ€™t have been enough? Exactly what kind of organized resistance are they expecting?

I imagine buying a car that needs police protection is not the selling point they think it is

@selzero Who pays for it? Taxpayers!
@peterfweinmann @selzero that's the free market at play. That is if you're talking about a private company or a billionaire.
@selzero Without having seen Robocop: Omnicorp might (!) still be better than the Umbrella Corporation future ๐Ÿ˜‰
@selzero Jawoll, Amis wacht endlich auf!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
@thommig @selzero is there a similar german idiom to the phrase "too little, too late"?
@selzero Small government in pure Thatcher style, always here to hit you on the head & defend shareholders.
@selzero la puissance des images. Celle lร  rรฉsume tout.
@selzero draw all the cops to Tesla dealerships then do crimes to Tesla vehicles throughout the city
@selzero I think I've seen this film.
@HowardGees "You have 20 seconds to comply" @selzero
@selzero protecting billionaires like they give shit and pay taxes. Surprise, they don't.
@selzero This causes two effects one good & one bad. The bad is the city has to pay for this protection. The good is that teslas don't get sold.
@selzero I think that the police are supposed to protect the weakest members of society by enforcing everyone to obey the laws equally. Pictures like this make me wonder how does it go wrong (or am I wrong and it was never meant to be how I think it's supposed to be)... (Also, is it closer to how I think it's supposed to be in my country compared to USA and other places.)
@kibrika @selzero
police in the US started with private security, and has always existed to protect the wealthy. The idea they ensure stability and protect everyone equally was the justification for making everybody pay for it. Not that ther isn't plenty of cops who believe that justification, it's just that the whims of their political masters take precedent. Especially in places like the US where the police leadership are elected and thus endebted to the party political machine.
@selzero Fear and Loathing in Chicago
@selzero #trump needs to cut #musk loose. Heโ€™s lost all worldwide credibility by siding with the #swasticar Queen
@selzero
I, umm,
Were you thinking about his brain implant company? Because now i am
@selzero
It's not Detroit yet.
@selzero It would be cheaper just to remove the five letters from the building. Which will happen anyway when Tesla goes bankrupt. ๐Ÿ™‚

@selzero

Looks like itโ€ฆ

@selzero Please reload the simulation.

@selzero This will certainly increase the attraction and value of swastikars.
Meanwhile Nikola Tesla is turning in his grave.

#swastikars

@MixMistressAlice @selzero

Put some magnets on him and some wires around the coffin, and we got our power source.

@selzero

So the US police now are basically a publicly funded corporate security force used to intimidate and keep citizens from exercising their rights granted by the 1st amendment.

That's really a big win.

Not for freedom of speech or the general public but for somebody it is.

@digital_bohemian @selzero The dirty secret is that it was always ever thus. Start with the Coal Wars and there's a through line direct to stuff like this.
@selzero kinda working alright. Don't think anyone's going to go shopping in that situation.

@selzero

How is this not indicative of a failed state?
