@gwall You need to actually look for everyone and everything yourself, and soon enough there's too much to scroll through. Trawl any hashtag that seems even a bit relevant to your interests, check out the people posting in them, everyone who is replying, anyone they're boosting. If they're at all what you like to see, follow them. There's no algorithm to suggest anything and not everything is federated to you right away, but it gets there pretty quick. Following something like 200 people is manageable and keeps your Home page infinitely populated, for reference. I'd also advise you write an introduction post (hashtag introduction) so people can see who you are and if they want you following them, and will see you in the relevant hashtags as well.

The goths are probably at music instances, and a lot of people block mastodon.social because it's really bad with moderation and spam, so you might want to eventually look for somewhere else to be situated from!
