"Medical freedom" should be changed to "stupidity"

Mennonites, West Texans at center of measles outbreak choose medical freedom over vaccine mandates

The virus is spreading among Gaines County’s Mennonite community, where government mandates are not trusted. But another outbreak is also spreading, and that's mistrust in vaccines and public health.

PBS News
@ai6yr Headline could've just been "Mennonites, West Texans start measles outbreak leading to spike in severe illness and the first measles death in over a decade". But, yeah, any framing around "medical freedom" is such BS, but sadly not surprising from PBS

@dgodon @ai6yr Maybe we need more of those kinds of headlines, until it starts to sink in for people that "freedom" doesn't mean shit without the full context of who is being freed from what!

Although towards that end I do think we ought to consider making "disease freedom" a term... :)

@dgodon Not PBS, that's AP coverage through PBS.
@ai6yr
I would've gone with "child endangerment, resulting from beliefs of superiority coupled with complete ignorance."
@ai6yr Republicans like #RogerMarshall are trying to blame all those immigrants streaming across the border. He knows better. I mean the man is a doctor OB/GYN.
