Here is the finished product of my own design for Intel #nuc rack. Can be scaled up or down för both large and small Nucs. Done on my #3dprinter so that my #selfhosted #homelab environment also looks good 😁💪🏻
@amar This looks very neat! I'm currently searching for reliable mini PCs for a Proxmox cluster. But everything I look at has some severe downsides. It's either low performance (e.g. 4-thread CPUs), or the vendor has a reputation for unreliable hardware and terrible support (e.g. Minisforum). What's your experience with this so far?
@monospace these are really good. i5 machines with 64 gb memory and they take whatever I drop on them. Tbh, my plan is to scale down maybe to 2 machines in total, one for proxmox and another for backup server. Don’t need cluster or maintenance for my home use, that hassle I have on my day job 😁 On current setup I have 8 VMs and 4 LXCs, with Ceph configured as shared storage. Everything works like a dream. Thought about 1Gbit might be a limiting factor but not one that I noticed in daily use. Depending on your needs these or HP Elite Mini 800 are perfect for home use. They are low noise, low power work horses. Let me know if you need any more details.
