This is not a great advertisement for a fruit variety, LOL. #gardening #fruit #medlar

What does that fruit taste like?

("monkey a***")

@ai6yr I suspect those fond descriptors were inspired by the fruit's appearance, not its taste.

@msbellows LOL I'm afraid to go search for those particular animal anatomy parts to compare 😂

(Meta/Google ad engine: "THIS USER IS INTERESTED IN ANIMAL REARS, WE SHALL MARK THEM AS INTO BESTIALITY")

@ai6yr I suspect the various species were selected simply because no one wanted to admit they were personally familiar with the human version.
@msbellows @ai6yr mmm medlars fell out of favour, just like rosehips, once there was wider access to actual sweet fruit, that doesn't need to be either cooked or half rotten to be digestible. So I wouldn't bet too much on the taste.
Loquat, on the other hand, is delicious even though it's called Japanese medlar in French.
@ai6yr Medlar's great. The flowers are pretty, great fall foliage, and the bletted fruit tastes like cinnamon applesauce.
