Tarrytown Lighthouse, 12/24/24. On the way home from a trip to NYC, we stopped by to see the Tarrytown Lighthouse, often referred to as the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. It sits on the NY side of the Tappan Zee and was first lit in 1883. It is the only surviving caisson-style lighthouse on the Hudson River. Note, if you’re planning to visit, be aware that there is a ton of construction going on in the area. We made the mistake of parking on one of the local streets, and we had to schlepp around the construction zones. It probably would have been easier to go to the nearby Kingsland Point Park and walk down the riverside path to the lighthouse. It is a beautiful lighthouse and a stunning setting — well worth the visit!
