This is for Americans who don’t agree with how Trump is threatening Canada.

Thank you.

Any ire that you see me (or, I believe, any Canadian) post here is not directed at you. I know there are millions of you. I know you are trying. I know some of you feel hopeless and maybe even despondent, but know this.

Canada loves YOU. We always will.

Yes we are very angry at your leader and the people around him, and even at your country, because the President, is the Country, in a sense, but we know there are good Americans who never wanted any of this.

We know you will stand up for us. And if you need us, we will stand with you too. Because that’s what friends do.

❤️ 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 ❤️

@chris a truly nice approach of the situation. I agree. I am very angry about Trumps' actions but yes, there must be many Americans who do not support his crazy actions. Those are the people that will have to stand up. Not only for their friends and neighbours but for the world.

Together we are stronger than Trump and his club of morons.

Best regards from The Netherlands

@chris

It feels strange as an American to be rooting for the Canadian hockey team when they play against the American hockey team with the MAGA contingent. 🇨🇦

@JeffreySmith it feels strange as a Canadian hearing about an American rooting for the Canadian hockey team when they play against the American hockey team! 😝
@chris @JeffreySmith I stood and applauded Team 🇨🇦 the other night. ~An American
@chris @JeffreySmith The political BS from 47 has also reinvigorated my love of hockey. 🇨🇦
@chris What you say here is very good, but 47 is in no way, shape, or form our "leader." 47 is a plundering thief and nothing else. He has ruined everything he ever touched and is staying true to form now.
@flyhigh @chris And congress is letting him get away with it. Very dissapointing.
@chris Most of us (here) are at least as angry at them as you are
@chris fuck Nazis! Fuck imperialism! Fuck capitalism! And fuck the heritage foundation!
@chris thank you. Could you adopt #Connecticut and our northern neighbors?
@chris Thank you for standing by us. We are fighting Trump et al as much as we can. I don't mind what any Canadian says about the US, as long as it pisses off Trump!
@chris Appreciate this. Blanket hate serves no purpose. We’re all on this rock together.
@chris We support you not being cowed by the bully in office. Glad to see you fight back.
@chris This American has been to Canada several times and knows how wonderful Canadians and Canada are! I'm ashamed of Trump, Musk, their goons, and everything they have done to Canada. There are many here that share my opinion. 🍁
@chris Seattle and Vancouver are more connected than Seattle and DC in most ways. This madness is terrible
@chris Don’t worry, for us Americans who are on the right side of this issue we know where you’re ire is directed and we’re pissed too.
@chris there are so many of us who are watching what is happening and can't get over the sheer amount of deliberate cruelty, bullying, bridge burning and abhorrent behavior. Those of us who did not vote for him are terrified by all that is happening. WE love Canada !
@chris This Canadian, on the other hand, does not believe that individual Americans standing up for us will deter their military from invading us.
@chris I'm a New Yorker who has lovely ties to Canada. Childhood memories there. A sister who lived there as an adult. Love and respect for so much of what is Canadian. What this regime of facists has done to Canada hurts my heart. I feel like I just watched a despicable family member stab a dearly loved friend and neighbor in the back, and the shame falls on my whole family. I can't fault Canadians for wanting noting to do with any of us. Having some Canadians, like you, understand that you have some friends yet here in this awful place brings me to tears at your kindness after being treated so badly. Thank you. Please go on defying Trump. Every setback you inflict on him helps us in our own resistance.
@CommonSparrow ❤️ I just can’t understand what is happening. It’s so crazy. And sad.
@chris Hands Across American-Canadian Border! 👐🏻👯‍♀️👯👯‍♂️
@chris Well said, and thanks for thinking of doing that and then following through.
@chris We understand, we’re just as angry. It sucks to watch our country dismantled more every day. And thanks.

@chris

There are so many things that break my heart about modern US politics, but the insults to Canada rank right up there. Keep boycotting us - economic disruption is our best hope. We are boycotting businesses owned by oligarchs ourselves.

@chris
Hear! Hear! seconded 😁
@chris thank you for standing up for what is right. We all need to do so!
@chris thank you! 🥰 as an American who spent 6 years of grad school in Toronto, I love Canada 🇨🇦 deeply and know you will always be friends to the American people but 100% would never entertain thoughts of being annexed by the US. A big part of Canadian identity is necessarily “we’re not the US” and while it hurt sometimes as an American to get the brunt of that in personal situations, I recognize the importance of a strong counter to my behemoth country.
@chris Me and my family are moving as close to y'all as possible. We are too old to immigrate there and can't get in, but we plan to do most of our larger ticket shopping in Canada and support your economy while working to help our new community. We are from the southwestern US, but this place is circling the drain fast. Thank you for saying this.

@chris No need to explain Chris. We get it and we're on the same side. Go hard. Don't think twice about hurting our feelings because it doesn't help us down here for Canadians to sound less than fully committed.

You want to say to the worst of us that there will be consequences. We are probably even more exasperated that there are so many of us who don't listen when the exact same message comes from within. A lot of us are applauding and want to say: Don't let up.

There'll be time enough for nuance later and the more effective the response is, the sooner that time will come. Chronic simmering conflicts create more pain and misery than brutally intense ones.

@chris BTW, Canadians, recommend Canadian products or products that disproportionately go to support Canada to us in the US. Even with tariffs, the exchange rate makes a lot of goods not drastically more expensive to us.

Back when we all bought our music on physical media, I would mail order my Tragically Hip and Cowboy Junkies CDs direct from Canadian distributors because it was cheaper that way... so much so that that the first time I did that, I feared that I was going to receive poorly made bootlegs.

@sysop408 @chris Its different this time round. When he was first elected, I assumed they just goofed. I regarded individual Americans on contact as good people unless they turned out to be trumpers. This time the country knew exactly what they were getting and made a clear choice. He is their president. Trump is America. Americans who say they don't support him no longer get a free pass. Those who voted for him or didn't vote, even if they now regret it, and their country, are the enemy.
@chris Chris, we're those dang ants carrying a load to an ant hill & doing so without clear leadership. All small loads somehow are helping...
Bill
@chris Thank you for saying this. It makes me feel a little better. We expect to travel out of the country twice this year and I’m trying to think of an accessory or something to wear/bring/carry that will proclaim our total dismay at the state of affairs here. And our utter disdain for the idiot and his cabinet and lackeys. Ideas welcome. 😉🙏🏻 #WeHateHimToo
@chris ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@chris I don't know the new PM seems pretty hell bent on telling the US to get F**ked at this point. Which is fine as far as I am concerned, because we should just keep giving handouts. And sadly now that's what numerous countries think we should be doing even with our massive amount of debt, yet you as an individual wouldn't do that so why should the US?

@chris But also, if your country so much as *touches* Greenland all bets are off.

Regardless of the political affiliation of the people in question.

Shit will get *very real* when that happens.

The US really doesn't want to make enemies of former NATO member states.

@chris
I guess will have to amend to add Greenland

@chris

Dear ones,

Yep America is family, even though your deranged uncle has moved in and ruined a lot, threatened and harmed. Still, family.

We hope you get your deranged uncle out and into care.

Love Canada.

@chris @NMBA It’s all great to be proclaiming our reciprocal love for each other here – of course Canada loves America, we’ve proven it over & over again – but it is fundamentally useless. What is needed is action. Americans simply don’t understand how big the insult of Trump is. They don’t understand how dire the situations are in Ukraine, Myanmar, and now Venezuela are. Democracy is dying everywhere &# now the USA is one of the 3 main destructors, along with Russia & China. (1/4)
Where is the outrage? Where are the protests? Where are the millions of Americans that claim to love & support Canada? What about those that support Greenland, Mexico, Ukraine, Venezuela, & Myanmar or – I don’t know – democracy itself? Americans are asleep, the world is burning, and your leaders are throwing lit matches in the hay. Don’t tell us you “aren’t like them” or that you “still love Canada”. Get up off your ass & do something about it. (2/4)
You still live in a Democracy & your leaders are your choice. Until I see Americans changing their government & fixing their clearly broken democracy so this shit doesn’t by happen every 4-8 years, I’m going to assume Canada has been in a toxic relationship for 80yrs & that you’re never going to change. It’s time for America to start acting like the country it always proclaims it is. What it is now is a pariah state. Canada and the world needs to protect itself. (3/4)
America needs to get its shit together. Don’t make us get a restraining order. (4/4)
