Trump administration identifying #Autism, #ADHD as "dire threats to the American people."

Underlying many of Trump's policies?

Eugenics. Against all disability.

Libertarian survival of the fittest.

Even if they don't round us up, over 80% of us #autistics are unemployed or under employed.

Killing our benefits like Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Foodstamps, Housing, etc?

Just a soft means of killing us.

#SoftGenocide is more deadly. It goes unnoticed.

An addendum:

I must honor my fear.
Fear is my guardian, my screaming siren.
Fear is the warning of annihilation that must be heeded.
I will embrace my fear and share its wisdom.
I will let it flow through me into purpose and strength.
And when we have acted, I will remember its lessons.
Where the danger once stood, we will remain.
We are stronger for having feared... and acted... together.

@johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd The defense I am hearing about Musk over and over is that he is "on the spectrum". So the WH has now acknowledged that Musk is a dire threat to the American people and their way of life?

@below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Well, actually he is... IMHO. There are dangerous autists.

@johnnyprofane1 I don't have enough experience to be able to tell. All I know is that he is definitely dangerous.

@johnnyprofane1 @below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

I've thought about it for a couple hours, and come to the conclusion that whether or not Musk is on the neurodivergent spectrum, and where he lies on it, genuinely doesn't matter.

Autism doesn't make one a Nazi asshole. Having a billion dollars, on the other hand...

@theogrin @johnnyprofane1 @below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd There’s nothing about autism that would make him the colossal dick he’s always been. Personally I think it’s just something his mother has always screeched in an attempt to make excuses for him being a sociopath, so now he trots it out to try to hide behind too. Like you said though, it hardly matters either way because it’s not a cause of his personality defects and evil behavior. He’s just a dick.

@crowbriarhexe @theogrin @johnnyprofane1 @below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

I disagree. The brain wiring of autism generally makes it easier for us to make moral, honest choices,* because our thinking isn't as influenced by impulse.

BUT, that lack of impulse means that we also lack an impulse to stay within social boundaries, therefore, we can be bigger dicks when we do go off the rails.

* research shows autistics tend to speak and act more honestly & ethically in real world scenarios

@crowbriarhexe @theogrin @johnnyprofane1 @below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Overall, we experience all the same compassion & desire to connect with fellow humans as everyone, but we understand and participate in communication in a more logical, clinical way.

Non-autistics people's brains intuitively understand lots of unspoken stuff that can derail kindness, but also adds guardrails against blatant cruelty.

IMO, result is that autistics tend to be more extreme in kindness v. cruelty.

@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd "Some people are more equal than others" applies to Musk, I think.
To Trump theirself (trying to piss him off by using genderneutral pronouns) applies only the #führersprinzip

Der Führer Hat Immer Recht

The Leader Is Always Right

@fjelle @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Of course. I just hope especially progressive people stop using thins as an excuse for Musk
@below @fjelle @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Whether Musk even seriously claims to be autistic is a bit in dispute here, since the only time he mentioned it was in an SNL routine.
@BernieDoesIt @below @fjelle @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
.
drives me nuts. You know what I think, this whole conversation takes place in a world where money grubbing and aggression aren't normal people traits, like normal people have no traits, like aggression and money grubbing is rare enough to be a divergence, and normal people don't do anything fucking wrong
.
sorry to cuss, but FFS 😈
@BernieDoesIt @below @fjelle @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
.
I mean, in every other conversation, the aggression is the reason for the pride, everyone is Proud and Strong, no-one is Soft or Weak - but when someone goes too far for the public, gets in trouble, suddenly that's a divergence 😈 😀
.
boys get divergence diagnoses for NOT fighting, don't they?

@punishmenthurts cursing is fine, just don't make personal attacks to someone or a group.

I mean some people don't curs but still attack people...

@BernieDoesIt

Musk is also so well known for his honesty and transparency. It couldn't possibly just be another manipulation. /s

"Hans Asperger first identified autistic traits in young children while working in Vienna in the 1930s and 40s.
When Asperger’s Syndrome was named after him in 1981, society was unaware that Asperger actively colluded with the Third Reich’s eugenics polices, sending many other disabled children to almost certain death. /1 https://www.autismontario.com/news/self-disclosure-and-self-representation-aspergers-and-elon-musk-debate

@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd “I think sometimes people get caught up in language,” said Julie. “But language in many cases, really does matter.” Language such as functioning labels, she said, is dividing the community. Julie pointed out that we don’t know Musk’s true intention. “Maybe he just called it Asperger’s because that was his original diagnosis,” she said, adding that perhaps “he didn't know the connotations of it.”
@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Now looking back on this, of course he would use the pro-NAZI term #Fascist

@TheCyberneticist @below @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

I'm not sure I understand your ultimate point. Does it relate to my original post?

@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Too bad any behaviors we could reasonably use to amateur-diagnose him are completely occluded by his blaringly obvious billionaire derangement syndrome.
@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Skum doesn't suffer from autism, he said that once to gain sympathy. Narcissic sociopath, that, he is though!

@below @johnnyprofane1

That "defense" would have a lot more teeth if the people who brought it up weren't the exact same ones who insist that "some autistic people can't wear masks, so I shouldn't have to either!" without... you know... actually giving a fraction of a shit about actually autistic people.

@below @johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd As with the nazis there are just double standards. The right-wing to fascist AfD party (that has actual nazis, who call the shots) in Germany has a leader who is a lesbian that is married to a non-white woman, they have children and live in Switzerland

same

@johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd didn't some guy in Germany do this, around the year 1940s to 1945s?

@fjelle @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Some guy named Hans Asperger, a NAZI doctor, first discussed what became known as autism.

We were considered defective. Targeted for concentration camps along Jews, gays, Gypsies.

Genocide

@johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd I heard something along those lines. Luckily nowadays it's just called 'autism spectrum disorders' I've heard that, because of this past, doctors didn't want to use the #asperger label.
@johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd That's sheer horror! 😱

@atarifrosch @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

I know. Can we turn our horror into action?

@johnnyprofane1 @[email protected] @[email protected] Well, one autistic person is definitely a direct threat to the American people...

@MxAlba @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Because he is autistic? Or because he does threatening things?

@johnnyprofane1 @MxAlba @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
He's not autistic. It was a joke. A bad one.
@murdoc @johnnyprofane1 @[email protected] @[email protected] being ableist to a person is not suddenly okay because you (rightfully) hate them... Felon Musk is autistic. And a fucking asshole. But him being an asshole doesn't give you the right to deny his autism. Unless you are his therapist. Are you?

@MxAlba @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd @johnnyprofane1 @murdoc

I've seen quite a few people use Musk's alleged autism as an insult. It's the same thing as calling Trump "fat." Trump won't see that, but your friends will and they'll know what you really think of them. Same with autism. Musk won't see this. Autistic people on Mastodon will.

@unabogie @[email protected] @[email protected] @johnnyprofane1 @murdoc

Unfortunately, people use autism as an insult all the time. So people being ableist towards Felon Musk doesn't surprise me. Doesn't mean it's right, though. Especially not
by autistic people.

I mean, I'm trans, I've seen the same process a lot surrounding
asshole trans people like Caitlyn Jenner and Buck Angel. Suddenly people think it's okay to misgender and/or deadname them because they're assholes... NO! It's never okay to misgender and/or deadname a trans person. Even, or I'd even say, expecially, when you disagree with them or when they're being assholes.

Elon Musk being autistic is no different. Autistic people can be
assholes too, case in point. Not because they're autistic, but because they're human, and no creature on God's green earth is better at being fucking assholes than good old Homo sapiens.
@MxAlba @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd @johnnyprofane1
Well thanks for not judging me too harshly there. 🙄
For one thing, he's a well known liar. But I have also looked up this business of his being autistic, and so far I have only found one instance of him having ever mentioned it. It was on Saturday Night Live, not a venue known for accurate dissemination of information. Every other instance of it that I've found was just media outlets reporting on it and taking it as gospel. If he had said it before, or since, I would be more inclined to take it seriously. However in a subsequent interview he referred to the incident saying "...or whatever it is I said I was." This does not give me a great deal of confidence that what he was saying was serious. If you have evidence to the contrary I'm happy to look at it.
@johnnyprofane1 @[email protected] @[email protected] not because he's autistic but because he's an asshole... But he's also autistic.
@johnnyprofane1 @[email protected] @[email protected] nothing in the order resembles what they are actually doing on environment, chemicals, industry, health care etc.

@ozzy @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Yes. I am focusing in this particular post a threat that is personal to me.

I post a lot. I didn't mean to exclude other concerns.

Did I understand your meaning?

@johnnyprofane1 @[email protected] @[email protected]
I think so.
Considering what they are actually doing, that order is a smoke screen apart from the targets you mentioned.

I did think your post is excellent summary
@ozzy @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd @johnnyprofane1 interesting, that they start with high cancer rates and never address it again, let alone present any solution for prevention...

@johnnyprofane1 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Ironic, considering Musk almost 100% has Asperger's or something.

@johnnyprofane1 @bmacDonald94 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Apologies - I read the WH post but did not see specific wording on autism. Would someone please help me find it?

@DarkAthena @johnnyprofane1 @bmacDonald94 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
Yeah same.

Not defending the US gvmt here, but America *does* have a giant health problem and addressing that by culling company influence is something that’s been well overdue. I guess even Bernie would agree.

@Profpatsch @DarkAthena @johnnyprofane1 @bmacDonald94 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd
I can find only two references to autism:

"Autism spectrum disorders had the highest prevalence in high-income countries, including the United States, in 2021. Similarly, autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis are more commonly diagnosed in high-income areas such as Europe and North America. Overall, the global comparison data demonstrates that the health of Americans is on an alarming trajectory that requires immediate action."

This looks like it is comparing ASD with auto-immune diseases*, and is something that needs to be prevented and/or treated.

"Autism spectrum disorder now affects 1 in 36 children in the United States — a staggering increase from rates of 1 to 4 out of 10,000 children identified with the condition during the 1980s."

No mention of changes to diagnostic criteria or any change in how the condition is viewed.

Soon after this is said:

"This poses a dire threat to the American people and our way of life."

A bit of an aside, but I find it interesting that that sentence is immediately followed by:

"Seventy-seven percent of young adults do not qualify for the military based in large part on their health scores."

Is that how we're measuring the quality of people's lives, their ability to enter the military?

* I initially typoed this as "auti-immune disease". Yikes. 😬
