After a reading string of bad or so-so novels, I'm loving the hell out of Robert Holdstock! Specifically MYTHAGO WOOD, which brilliantly weaves in a forest myth into how people coped after World War II (by way of a dude recovering from that and his father's death). I haven't read a book that ties personal trauma into a flirtation with the phantasmagorical found within nature quite like this. And his prose is gently beautiful. Any Holdstock stans here?
