@kottke As a European, it still keeps confusing me why the US seems to be one of the very few developed countries in the world that doesn’t have the concept of an “ID Card”, issued by the government, mandatory for every adult citizen. It proves your identity and your current registered primary address. You’re not a citizen, you don’t get an ID.

In countries with working public transit systems, many people don’t even have a driving license and not everyone has a passport either.
