The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 was not paid for, and it increased the federal debt. The TCJA cut taxes, which reduced federal revenue and increased deficits.
The TCJA made the distribution of after-tax income more unequal; raised health care premiums and reduced health insurance coverage. Extending the TCJA would increase primary deficits by trillions of dollars over the next decade.
Many provisions in the TCJA are scheduled to expire by the end of 2025. They need to expire!
