Trump’s approval rating is 53% in a new CBS poll. There is positive approval of sending troops to the border, handling of Israel-Hamas conflict, tariffs against China and DOGE.

A good reminder for me in my liberal echo chamber.

The only significant negative is he hasn’t talked much about bringing down prices.

CBS News poll — Trump has positive approval amid "energetic" opening weeks; seen as doing what he promised

Trump's deportation plans are popular, but Americans say there's not enough focus on lowering prices.

Looking more broadly at Project 538’s aggregation of approval polls, it’s quite clear Trump is more popular right now than at anytime in the past few years.

Contrary to the vibes on Bluesky, many people are happy with his changes.

@carnage4life action looks like strength, I suppose 😕
@carnage4life In the past 15 years I've learned that at least half of US citizens would enjoy taking part in feeding the other half to lions in an arena.
@rlmcneary2 @carnage4life I think it's like a third of them would feed another third to the lions while the final third just doesn't care either way.
@carnage4life most illiberal democracies know who their supporters are, e. g. they didn’t touch social security but hammered universities. I expect them to even increase benefits to their supporters at the expense of others thus ensuring support…
@carnage4life people sometimes don’t comprehend that others can dislike someone for the opposite reason they do. I could see my dad believing Trump wasn’t extreme enough last term for example.
@carnage4life I'm from Zimbabwe, and a guy I know always says 'The America of Trump is the real America'

@carnage4life Huh, just saw another poll yesterday that said more than 50% of Americans (including >30% of Republicans) think we're in a constitutional crisis.

So, I guess we underestimated how many Americans want to just tear the constitution up and use it as confetti.

@carnage4life “This CBS News/YouGov survey was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 2,175 U.S. adults interviewed between Feb. 5-7, 2025. The sample was weighted to be representative of adults nationwide according to gender, age, race, and education, based on the U.S. Census American Community Survey and Current Population Survey, as well as 2024 presidential vote. The margin of error is ±2.5 points.” When they say “weighted”, they mean “exaggerated” to say whatever they want us to believe. YouGov.com pays for opinions. Not exactly science.
@carnage4life
Yup, he's doing everything he promised... Everything, everywhere, all at once... And that's the problem. #MuskRats #DOGEboys #Project2025

@carnage4life Pretty soon: "Should America be a dictatorship?" Will get majority polling of "Why not"

Based on my own experience, Russia did not ask for Putin to be a dictator. They simply got around to seeing there was no other option.

As much as folks say otherwise, Americans' values wouldn't survive in a Russian style of "government through unbending control"

@carnage4life

Isn't CBS corporate network in a legal beef/defamation lawsuit with Trump??

Typical suspect mainstream media survey methods and data. Usual popularity contest questionaire.
