@kurtsh one piece missing here is that streamers like Netflix or Amazon demand HDR mastering, and rarely the cinematographers are involved (because they cost money) in the process. It‘s about selling bigger, newer TVs and subscriptions. HDR looks great for (100% artificial) computer games, but in movies less is more. Always has been, always will.
