I had an excellent first phone appointment with my new family doctor. He is very aware of my needs for covid safety & has promised to acquire extra N95 masks for any in person appointments I have to go to. My first in office appointment will be set up soon. My new family doctor was prompt on sending essential referral for me to obtain new set of leg braces. He is also going to help me find a better surgeon who will actually remove my elbow bursitis for me & not brush me off. The surgeon who I was referred to prior, at RebalanceMD, was absolutely horrific & didn't do anything to help me. That place is a MSP money grabbing place that hasn't done anything to help me nor my Mom in over 6 different referral visits to separate doctors there.

FYI - I got this new family doctor due to pursuing an in office lead from my osteoporosis specialist. He works in same medical clinic. I asked to be put on their internal wait list a few months back. I kept following up, weekly.

I want to be very clear on the fact that the BC government didn't help me obtain this new doctor whatsoever. I was on their huge waitlist for over a year & nothing happened. I pursued 4 different doctors from private leads & that is how it happened. However, our shifty, lying BC government is trying to take credit for work they did not do in me finally having a new family doctor. Their self congratulatory, canned email was insulting to receive today. Bunch of dishonest wankers.

The BC government has treated disabled patients like me as disposable for years. They've greatly harmed our disabled community as a whole much more than they've ever tried to really help us.

I wrote back to BC health ministry & straight up told them that their self congratulatory, canned email had infuriated me. I advised them to cease sending out those emails to other people like me, who did not get ANY help from #BCNDP #BCgovernment & was treated like disposable by their #eugenics ministry. I reiterated my constant call to #FireBonnieHenry with multiple valid reasons on why that taxpayers funded criminal is still running our #PublicHealth into hell. I still wish death & lifelong disability on every single government official who supported easing up on #CovidSafety. I do not forgive people responsible for murdering my Dad.

I'm suggesting that everyone else who got similar self congratulatory emails from BC government to take time to email too & let them know those emails are just infuriating people. They don't help us to feel better. It only helps to remind us that we have not been helped but ignored for a very long time. It is not easily forgiveable to be treated like you are disposable & not worthy of getting essential medical help.

@RobotDiver It is easier just pursuing your own leads from multiple medical clinics because BC government talks big PR but doesn't actually help many patients in need. I got Mom her new family doctor the same way - relentlessly pursuing every medical clinic lead possible & following up on phone every week.

Yeah, I'm on the waitlist for Ric Arsenault to see me as an M.E. patient. He helped my friend so much. He saw their cane and immediately asked if their doctor had gotten them a disability parking pass yet, which of course not. There were a lot of tears. I have some hope. I technically have a doctor, but he's three hours away and about as effective as talking to a concrete wall. My neuro wanted me referred to the UBC movement clinic a year ago, and I got a call from him last week wondering why I wanted to go there. I'm starting to wonder if he's ever even bothered to look at my chart. I'm so exhausted at trying to advocate for myself that I have to take an ativan before every appointment because otherwise I end up in tears and he immediately asks if i want to see a psych. It's like, no you fuck, I'd like to see an effective doctor.

@RobotDiver I had similar issues when I lived up island in more remote place. I was often referred to doctors in Victoria & Vancouver.

@RobotDiver I truly hope you move off the waitlist for Arsenault to see you before Summer comes. The waiting is difficult because often other health issues crop up, while waiting. I feel for you - been in similar waiting place, several times before & it's stressful as heck. I used to be referred over to GF Strong in Vancouver for many of my orthopedical medical needs.
