I can’t believe these things need to be said in 2025, but here we are. These are facts.

@shderuiter Thanks for the image. I just pinned it on my profile.
@shderuiter True facts of life, the life we have or should have together
Saved and pinned
@shderuiter Nice, thanks for sharing.
I got the first 3 of those in my profile logo, but I should expand it.
@shderuiter 💚 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Blickwinkel
Just what I thougt. I spruced it up a bit. 😉
Being vegan is a pretty fundamental lifechoice for me, so this version fits beter with my believes

@shderuiter

@shderuiter I agree that kindness is everything! Therefore, I oppose the "right to choose." Killing embryos and fetuses without their consent is extremely unkind.

Prenatal rights are human rights. Fetal lives matter. Elective abortion is cruelty, discrimination, and oppression. And I can't believe THAT still has to be said in 2025. This woman stands with fetal people and thinks it's high time we gave them the same legal protection from violence we give all other people!!

@WriterOfMinds@sigmoid.social We differ on that, and that’s fine. I wasn’t born with a uterus so my opinion on it is insignificant at best. But I will _always_ respect “My body, my choice”. No exceptions, no debate. Not negotiable.

@WriterOfMinds @shderuiter
For argument sake, the last DNA to unite in fertilization in cell-1 of a human is unique. Is it a "person" now with a "soul" or a recipe? Would the DNA code list be a "soul" or a recipe (as someday it will be)? Should a 10 yr old be FORCED to make that single-cell recipe into a baby?

You write the real law for that 10 yr old. OR, that typical mother of two on week 8.

.... Awaiting your wisdom!

@WriterOfMinds @shderuiter oh behave. Fetal people. Get a fkin grip of yourself.
@WriterOfMinds @shderuiter intrigued about this concept that a bunch of cells that doesn't yet have distinct organs can have capacity for consent. I get the impression your knowledge of biology might be screwed. I mean. That's assuming there's internal coherence to your world view. It could be that your ignorant, it could be that you're misguided, it could also be that you're plain fukin evil...
Let's keep the comments civil, please. We left the slinging of mud & shit at each other at the Bad Place; here I expect cooler minds to prevail. Please?

We don't support her standpoint and let's leave it at that.
@shderuiter the standpoint you "don't support" is a direct threat to life and health, not just to me me but to anyone else who can carry a fetus. I'll use what phrasing suits me, thanks.
@shderuiter fyi what you're doing is tone policing. and you can stick it where the sun don't shine.
@sleepingexplorer@mastodon.social And what you’re doing is rage baiting and for that you can suck my block filter.
@shderuiter very manly of you, guess we can see why you're so blasé about the forced birther upthread.
Wow. I feel bad about blocking someone and especially about what I said when I blocked them and I come back to this.

You misgender me. You imply that I'm actually pro this fetal rights shite even though I was quite clear I'm not. Damn.

Okay. Let's rewind.

Someone comments with the "life begins at conception" shtick. I'm being civil even though I strongly disagree with them because I don't know what the reason for the statement is; maybe she had several miscarriages and can no longer understand why anyone would abort a pregnancy. Or religious. Or deluded. Or whatever. Point is, I don't know so I don't go in full rabid attack mode.

But you do attack. And once again, I don't know the reason so I *ask* you politely to be civil. You respond by attacking me. The fuck? Implying I should shut up because I don't have a uterus (of which I'm painfully aware, thank you)? This angers me. A lot. So I block you, but not after doing a bad thing. The "suck my block filter" is not appropriate and for that I apologize.

Then, after unblocking you in preparation for said apology, I find this reply. Wow.

I try to be a good person, I really do. It's why I tend to at least try to understand someone's perspective, even when I strongly disagree. But it's hard sometimes. It's so easy to just attack and I really try not to because I want to be better than that. But rage sometimes gets the better of me; it's one of the reasons I ask people to remain civil when responding to my posts in this way. That can be construed as tone policing (I prefer "moderation"), but sometimes one just wants to keep the comments in a positive post, well, positive. Feel good things about a feel good post.

So could we start again? Hi, I'm Sydney; a transgender woman and definitely pro choice. I fully agree with your sentiment about fetal rights being stupid, I just believe that the way you convey it is counter productive because of the rage and pain it can generate.
@shderuiter hi Sydney, gosh that's a lot to respond to, I don't think I can do that in one go. Starting with just returning the "hi" seems like the way to go. So many directions the rest could go in.
@shderuiter the kindness part may need some adjustments in relation to things* and too much repression* wealth*
@shderuiter I would change it to “diversity makes us resilient”.

@shderuiter the oldest version of this I can find is fairly recent, Jan 20. www.instagram.com/executivefunctioningfirst/p/DFDapd-qpfN/

I feel like it might be older than that, but I can't find any instances

the individual elements of the image are definitely older. in particular, the weird globe and the wavy pride heart are distinctive, not common, but I haven't been able to identify an origin for either of them

@shderuiter I hope that after times of sad old hateful rich boys, beller times will come. And the tendencies of humanity on timeline are still sinusoidal.

@shderuiter

We had this custom made for the front yard.

@shderuiter I believe all hierarchies should be abolished, which will solve most of these or will get them in the right direction.
@shderuiter Many thanks ! Done.
@shderuiter I've been sharing this kind of stuff in my Whatsapp and Signal stories, lately, to help give people who've recently switched to Signal the idea that it's an active platform and to promote the Fediverse on Whatsapp (which I have to keep using professionally, unfortunately...)
