ADDED: I was being sarcastic here, people.

On I-5 on our way back and forth to Canada/California, signs everywhere blaming Newsom for no water. Wonder if they’ll figure this out.

‪Via Acyn:

Lieu: #Trump then ordered the Army Corps of Engineers release over 2 billion gallons of water that almost flooded farmland.. this water was saved for the farmers for summer when they need it. So Trump wasted all this water that isn’t even reaching Southern #California for a PR stunt

@GottaLaff Well, look at the bright side — lawyers will get to argue for decades whether an order to cause famine in such a roundabout way will have been sufficiently illegal to merit refusing to obey.

@GottaLaff

That sounds like another rightwing propaganda campaign.

So, no. People are not going to figure it out when there's a tsunami of lies and very little quality journalism.

We must find a way to break the brainwashing cycle, if we are to survive. I support independent journalism, avoid corp social media and try to spread facts, but it's not enough given the billions spent by the #AmericanOligarchy

#ThisIsAmericaNow

@GottaLaff IMHO those signs show it has had its intended result.
@GottaLaff Heck, 47 probably ordered those signs, come to think of it.
@annsiobhandoyle I don't even think they needed orders
@annsiobhandoyle The signs have been up for YEARS.

@GottaLaff
The sheer disregard for consequences of these pantomimes though.

Like ok, for a brief publicity stunt that maybe had a day's worth of attention, now farmers may end up with a massive water shortage all summer.

It's like the cricket parable, except now it doesn't spend all season singing and making merry, it actually sets fire to the harvest to get a brief spectacle on one evening during a BBQ.

@screwturn But that's what he always does. He rashly takes some stupid action that backfires, but all that his supporters remember is that he made the statement by doing it, consequences be damned.

@GottaLaff

"Wasted?" No, no, the water served it's purpose, Trump's purpose.

@GottaLaff

If it had been done on purpose it couldn't have hurt more the people he told everyone he wanted to hurt.

@goinfawr It was. He gave the order. And he wasted billions of gallons of water that will never reach these farms.

@GottaLaff a lot of Central Valley farmers have been blaming Dem politicians for lack of water the entire time I’ve lived in CA, 27 years now. Couldn’t possibly be that we’ve been in low-snowpack drought conditions half that time, of course.

Those minds will never change.

@jeffzugale Yes, I lived in Calif my entire life, until May of last year. Decades longer than you, in fact, now that I think about it.

They're die-hard Trumpies.

@GottaLaff yes indeed. I’ve never understood it. 🤷‍♂️
@jeffzugale People don't realize how much red is in Calif. Calif was a red state for some time.

@GottaLaff @jeffzugale All three west coastal states are like this. Blue west side in cities, VERY RED east sides of the state. I live in Washington, in the liberal cities, but grew up in the red parts as a teenager.

For us the state is very blue because the cities vastly outnumber the red parts.

@Sablebadger Yes, Washington, Oregon, Calif. When we drive back and forth to Canada/California, we drive through the reddest areas. @jeffzugale
@jeffzugale @GottaLaff
Remind them it was Trump that dumped tons of their water from reservoirs.
@christymarx @GottaLaff they will not hear it. I feel like they believe that water is an inexhaustible resource that appears by magic, and that they are entitled to use as much of it as they want, forever.
@jeffzugale @christymarx As I said, Christy, they blame Newsom. They won't budge from that.
@GottaLaff
Of course they won't figure it out. Trump got his misinformation about California's water situation from the same farmers who put up the signs blaming Newsome. They aren't going to blame a politician who repeats their conspiracy theories back to them.
@VATVSLPR I was being sarcastic. They despise Newsom. They have signs out now saying, "This is Trump country now."
@GottaLaff
Sure. My larger point about Trump repeating California farmers' zombie lies still stands. The same general thing is true of a lot of the lies Trump tells; he's often repeating lies he heard from his supporters rather than making stuff up himself. When you hear him say that kind of BS, you can often figure out who he's been listening to.
@VATVSLPR Oh, he does that regularly. He often quotes from Fox without hesitation.
@GottaLaff That didn't come through for me.
@GottaLaff reminds me of the "No to 3 waters!" signs in NZ. They voted out the govt that was going to actually fix our water infrastructure and the new right-wing govt is forcing local councils to do everything individually because they have no solutions (they have a plan too, they swear, it's just not ready for publication somehow...)
Reforms require decisions

The government and the name of water reforms may have changed last year but the expensive changes have not - and councils will still have to figure...

Otago Daily Times Online News
@depereo @GottaLaff In USA is called having "a concept of a plan".
@depereo @GottaLaff A concept of a plan? Perhaps?
@GottaLaff Billionaires like Stewart Resnick want taxpayers to foot the bill for water storage and delivery infrastructure, but won’t pay for using 90% of it.
@GottaLaff Sir, Yes Sir! We will release that water right away, Sir! Then show him a video of a vast amount of water running through a mountain pass and tell him it's on its way Sir! Then ignore the order. The Felon pays no attention to the aftermath, just how he looks in the moment.
@RegGuy He doesn't CARE about the aftermath. He ONLY cares, as you said, about the benefit to him
@GottaLaff Exactly. And he doesn't care if things actually happen. He's doing things largely performatively. He's on TV for his cult's entertainment.
@RegGuy Oh I think he cares if things happen.
@GottaLaff Like the water? I'm not sure, perhaps he's more aware than I give him credit for, but it did no good, so what difference if it actually went or they just told him it did?
@RegGuy No, like the destruction of democracy and our govt.
@GottaLaff This will have then intended result. Punish CA for being a blue state. And when the MAGA farmers ask for aid…make them suffer.

@GottaLaff

So much for the "competent white men" argument.

@GottaLaff those signs drive crazy. “Is growing food wasting water?” Yes, if you are using flood irrigation instead of more targeted drip systems which they refuse to use. “Build more dams” when we don’t get enough rain for it matter. Gah. I’m not a farmer nor a meteorologist but I understand simple concepts. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
