On I-5 on our way back and forth to Canada/California, signs everywhere blaming Newsom for no water. Wonder if they’ll figure this out.

The sheer disregard for consequences of these pantomimes though.

Like ok, for a brief publicity stunt that maybe had a day's worth of attention, now farmers may end up with a massive water shortage all summer.

It's like the cricket parable, except now it doesn't spend all season singing and making merry, it actually sets fire to the harvest to get a brief spectacle on one evening during a BBQ.

"Wasted?" No, no, the water served it's purpose, Trump's purpose.

If it had been done on purpose it couldn't have hurt more the people he told everyone he wanted to hurt.

@GottaLaff a lot of Central Valley farmers have been blaming Dem politicians for lack of water the entire time I’ve lived in CA, 27 years now. Couldn’t possibly be that we’ve been in low-snowpack drought conditions half that time, of course.

@GottaLaff @jeffzugale All three west coastal states are like this. Blue west side in cities, VERY RED east sides of the state. I live in Washington, in the liberal cities, but grew up in the red parts as a teenager.

For us the state is very blue because the cities vastly outnumber the red parts.

Of course they won't figure it out. Trump got his misinformation about California's water situation from the same farmers who put up the signs blaming Newsome. They aren't going to blame a politician who repeats their conspiracy theories back to them.

Sure. My larger point about Trump repeating California farmers' zombie lies still stands. The same general thing is true of a lot of the lies Trump tells; he's often repeating lies he heard from his supporters rather than making stuff up himself. When you hear him say that kind of BS, you can often figure out who he's been listening to.

@GottaLaff those signs drive crazy. “Is growing food wasting water?” Yes, if you are using flood irrigation instead of more targeted drip systems which they refuse to use. “Build more dams” when we don’t get enough rain for it matter. Gah. I’m not a farmer nor a meteorologist but I understand simple concepts. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
