Indivisible has launched a campaign to get people to physically visit their representatives this week:

You're not into electoral anything, ever? Cool, there's mutual aid work in your community that needs help. And food banks and libraries and school boards. Archive projects. Foster kids.

I cannot make a bespoke action plan for your exact situation, but if you feel like what you're doing is pointless, there are options.

If you need to yell about how frustrated you feel, I respect that! (Perhaps consider my well-honed spiritual practice of Hollering Into A Tree or the classic urban alternative, Bellowing Down That Storm Drain.)

Many of us are working with stark limitations of all kinds. But most people can do *something*, and in my experience, when we do it often helps.

@kissane
What
A
Great
Idea !
I can't believe I didn't think of this.

All my reps are #democrats but they still need to get a sense of urgency.
If you have #republican #congress people it would be even more effective, although they are likely to be unwelcoming.

@blaise @blogdiva @kissane This is my representative. I've corresponded with him before; he's not welcoming of my input, and he's said as much.

Rep. Ogles Proposes Amending the 22nd Amendment to Allow Trump to Serve a Third Term

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Andy Ogles introduced a House Joint Resolution to amend the Constitution of the United States to allow a President to be elected for up to but no more than three terms. The language of the proposed amendment reads as follows:

Representative Ogles
@ramsey @blaise @blogdiva @kissane Start a recall campaign. Surely this asshat has broken some laws you can hang him for.

@alexr @blaise @blogdiva @kissane It won't work here. He's already been re-elected multiple times.

He's been under investigation over the past year for breaking campaign finance laws, but the investigation magically disappeared within days after he proposed this Constitutional amendment. Magic!

@blaise D reps definitely need to hear from their constituents—they need numbers to back decisions, and they need to hear what matters most to the people they serve. I'm incredibly fortunate to have 2/3 of my reps be some of the best in Congress, but they still need those calls. (And I have to kick the third one a little.)

Right. Indivisible's largely focusing on getting D's to use their powe, although on the call also said there are at least a few R's who are very nervous right now about the overreach so potentially influencable.

@kissane @blaise

@kissane Interesting ... Wyden is one of my Senators!
@kissane This is helpful! I know my folks are on board but do they have that sense of urgency? I don't know and I should check. Thanks for the nudge.
@jessamyn People who can't physically go this week—like me, stuck on the wrong side of a snowy mountain pass several hours away from the nearest one—can definitely be calling. Takes 60 seconds, one issue per call with a clear single request for action!
