Avalanche danger was a 3- on our scale (1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest). Dangerous was covered (and therefore invisible) wind slab. The snowballs indicate nothing linked to this phenomena, but might give a hint about wet snow avalanches. Although it was still early (pic taken at 10:54 am), the snow was already quite wet, like you mentioned. Danger level for wet snow avalanche was a 2.
