How can one retro-fit a #USBA port to a 10 year old #thinkpad when the #minipcie internal USB port card device (see link below) is not on the #lenovo #whitelist e.g. of a #thinkpad_x230
BTW the #usb port is for then fitting a #lora #rnode or #meshtastic #note inside the #laptop case. This video shows the problem.

@adingbatponder Interesting, which #meshtastic node can be easily fit inside laptop's case without milling and drilling? And has an USB interface?

I search in AliExpress, but almost all nodes were pretty big to fit inside #thinkpad case in the place at photo:

Be aware that theese little modules doesnt have the additions like 5v ldo regulator and usb-serial ic onboard

Its esp32 and lora in one stamp

There is also a little bigger (16.1x38.4x2.8mm) module from heltec with the faster esp32s3 and lora sx1262 integrated in one module, but idk if it is supported from meshtastic firmware yet.
Maybe one need to set up the hardware pin definitions first to get correct firmware compiled.
