There is no reason for Canada to even consider the possibility let alone discuss our position as a US state.

Let me quote our Prime Minister:

And as a Canadian I am very annoyed whenever anyone brings up the possibility of us giving up our sovereignty.

I am not alone in feeling this, so please never ask again because some of us might not respond with a civilized reply.

... but I think it's hilarious Trump and his ilk don't even realize how much power they're offering here. Canada has a larger population than Texas and California.

A single Canada as state 51 immediately becomes the most populous state in the Union, with the loudest voice in the House.

Multiple Canadas as states 51 to 51+n get that (because they'll be default-inclined to vote as a bloc on issues that would "impact Canada"), plus the benefit of 2N+2 Senators.

Like, nobody is even asking the question of why Trump wants to shackle his country to Canada's most important issues! You'd think an ultra-nationalist like him would be like "We fought the War of 1812 for a reason," but he's not one of those "student-of-history" nationalists.

(But fr, you don't want to be a state. Why the hell would you want our problems to be your problems? You're already living in the apartment above a meth lab; who wants to move into the meth lab?)

@SnowshadowII if Canada were to be "part" of the USA it'd become an imperial possession with limited rights. A large Puerto Rico, in essence. I'd not expect American imperialism to give us Canadians any seats in their Senate, it would upset their two right-wing parties and the delicate dance of their oligarchy. They'd want a Quisling like PP to head up an illusory Parliament while they steal water, tar sands, coal, grain, and minerals.

@SnowshadowII it’s annoying they did this kind of thing in 2020 when the journalists kept asking trump and his idiot kids if they were considered postponing the election, as if that was even up to them.

And it was pissing me off because every time they asked him that question it made him think that it was up to him. Now they’re doing it with Canada. Ridiculous.
