Yes, it is more dangerous to have restricted movement, whether from pedestrians or a giant lorry. It's still worse to face a large oncoming vehicle with low or no visibility compared to noticing anything oncoming and slowing down well in advance so it ever becomes an issue.

Try to predict what dumb shit other (tired, distracted, sick, late for work, pained) drivers in their 1 ton bullets will do.
Then assume the worst example and plan how to react in advance to preserve as many options for future you as possible.
context: UK, I drive on left of road, driver seat is on right of vehicle, oncoming traffic is to the right of my right shoulder. Pedestrians and cyclists (but not motorbikers) are on left of passenger seat's left.
