In addition to Thai food, my other favorite cuisine is Vietnamese. I love the emphasis on fresh, raw vegetables to provide a temperature and texture contrast to many of the dishes. Here, shreds of cabbage, banana blossoms, perilla and other herbs sit on top of a bowl of bún mắm.

Believe me when I say that this dish is funky. I love it.
