#Hakea belongs to the ancient plant family #Proteaceae, which split into two subfamilies, #Grevilleoideae in #Australia and #Proteoideae in #southafrica before the separation of the #Gondwanaland continent around 140 million years ago.

Are you sure about this? The taxonomy used on inaturalist which is fairly up to date doesn't match this. There are more subfamilies now and the split between Australian and South African species is mostly at the tribe level.
