“Again, there’s Tim, figuratively clothing himself in the quotes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday. Clothing Apple’s home page in it. Then showing up to Trump’s inauguration like the words of MLK can do the work that he will not.”

@marcoarment @joesteel MLK said “The time is always right to do what is right”.

@marcoarment Tim Cook is two faced like the rest of them. He has more than enough money to last 10 lifetimes. He should stand up to Trump and if he worries Trump will attack Apple then he should step down but do the right thing.

Wait till the Tariffs hit Apple's imports or will Trump not put tariffs on the people who kiss his ring.

@samsethi @marcoarment Apple could trivially eat those tariffs themselves for a couple years. The fact that he’s worried at all about a money thing is bullshit. What’s the point of being the richest company in the world with the biggest pile of cash reserves if you’re beholden to any minor inconvenience that shuffles into office?

@vjgoh @marcoarment Apple market share of phones dropped last year. No new innovation. Missed on AI.

Apple unintelligence is not working. iPhone 17 is said to be slimmer and better camera. No folding phones, no meta sunglasses equivalent. Time for Tim to step down. He is the Steve Ballmer of Apple.

@marcoarment I, too, find this disturbing. I wonder what Apple's board of directors — Tim Cook's boss — gave him for direction. Did they tell him to do the right thing, or protect shareholder value and by extension the company?

I mean, Apple's been in the “shareholder value over the right thing” business for quite a few years now from where I’m sitting.

@marcoarment @joesteel Yeah, having grown up in the south as a gay man and living in TN, AL, GA, and northwest FL, I’ve seen it many many times. These older gay men carry their internalized homophobia to the grave. They think if they just do as the straights and conservatives do, the straights and conservatives will accept them. Except that never happens.
@marcoarment blame the people who voted for trump.
@marcoarment Man, that’s really well put.
@marcoarment @joesteel also, that Severance promo is uncomfortable and unfunny.
@marcoarment This kind of tribalism and divisive rhetoric is exactly why the Democrats lost the election. Categorizing people, promoting elitism, engaging in empathy policing, and claiming moral superiority only deepen divisions. This approach needs to stop. We should strive for integration rather than separation. Tim Cook is doing what is best for Apple, which is a far more significant and worthwhile effort than catering to a political party’s perceived elitism.

@marcoarment hey dude, I’m trying to make more conscious choices about what apps and businesses I use.
I’ve just moved over to Overcast and love it so far!

I just wanted to say thanks for just being a normal person, you made the decision a lot easier for me.
