Trump's Mass Anti-Immigrant Raids to Begin

Here are action items to protect your immigrant neighbors, answers to common FAQs, and insights to debunk anti-immigrant propaganda

Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid
@QasimRashid This is OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much. I've shared widely. 🙏🙏🙏

@QasimRashid

Isn't everyone guaranteed due process of law? Hearings etc ?

@QasimRashid
If true why there isn’t any reporting and images or videos? Why if this is #Trump prime and principal promise and the most circus act the voters wanted there isn’t any visual proof?
I call bullshit and false until I see proof.
Nobody will convince me without irrefutable proof that this is a pantomime aided of course by some actors.
@QasimRashid
This is for others and the user who keeps sending meviso of rando getting arrested.
If rain arrest 50 people a day and raise continue to be like that every day for 4 years working every day even Saturdays and Sundays that will be 73,000 people departed in 4 years.... The promise was MILLIONS. So dont belive the bullshit pantomime. Get your head out of your asshole.
@QasimRashid
Where is your evidence? You point to an old blog post with an incorrect prediction.
@jaypdub @QasimRashid How's the article outdated? The date on it is current and it refers to current information. Do I miss something?

@clemensprill

That profile seems to be trolling @QasimRashid . There are at least three replies in this thread that are negative and accusatory

@QasimRashid

Thank you.
There are a ton of immigrants here (Chicago North side) from Venezuela. I'm afraid of what they will suffer at the hands of these white supremacists who currently are ruling the country.

Glad for Johnson though! I hope he can hold his own

@QasimRashid Thanks for doing so. The progress in USA, actually a negative one, is shocking and primitive.
@QasimRashid Nights of Broken Glass 2 are coming in many cities. There are still some decent people left, yes, but the misfortune is that there are many sons of bitches who will take advantage, for money or simply for pure and simple evil. It is open season for immigrants.
@QasimRashid Isn’t this only against illegal immigrants - and by illegal, I mean it is a criminal offence to enter a country without proper papers. Correct? Does that not make his labelling disingenuous but technically accurate. Disclaimer: I am not in the US but I have first hand experienced the painful bureaucracy of immigrating legally to Europe. And I was one of the lucky ones who have it ‘easy’.
@vartak @QasimRashid In the US, crossing the border without documentation is a criminal offense (a misdemeanor, which is a minor offense), but most undocumented immigrants in the US arrived legally and then overstayed a visa, which is a civil offense, not criminal.
@hydropsyche @QasimRashid Right. But at least people who overstay a visa are trackable. Maybe they get fined etc. There is no way to enforce the law against illegal entry other than border policing and raids of this kind. How would you know if someone entered legally unless you check a passport for the entry stamp?
@vartak @QasimRashid Well I personally don't care. But I guess if you do care, it's a problem.

@QasimRashid thanks for posting this. Putting pressure on local officials to repeal 287g agreements seems like a good thing to focus on!

@QasimRashid

"Multiple Cities reporting on ICE raids" is NOT news. deportation have happened during Obama, Biden and Trump 1st Administration.

ENDING birthright citizenship IS NEWS and Trump is and will forever FAIL miserable there.

@QasimRashid
Forget corrupt. These right-wingers are just evil. Their entire agenda is to hurt people as much as possible while enriching themselves.

@QasimRashid I don't mean to nitpick but in FAQ section 2 you should specify the kind of warrant that ICE is required to have to be granted legal entry into a home via a search warrant. As well as the specific warrants that do NOT give them the legal standing to enter the property.

I can't think of them at the moment but it would be beneficial to do so

@QasimRashid I'm curious. As an immigration lawyer, do you believe that immigration should never be illegal, or that some situations should not be allowed? Not looking for a fight, just the opinions of someone who deals with this all the time. Thanks!

@generalhavok @QasimRashid I don’t think it’s as simple as just focusing on whether an immigrant is here with or without the correct documentation. Many natural citizens would find the process of immigration to be mind-bogglingly difficult, even with legal aid.

Someone who has put down roots, especially if they have kids or dependents, should not be deported. They’re paying taxes and this is their home, and the community is better served by keeping them.

@WhiteCatTamer @generalhavok @QasimRashid since born citizens can't be forcibly made stateless or deported in almost all other countries in the world, I'd consider deportation to be a racist form of penalty.

  • In return, I also believer everyone should have the freedom to change nationality and residence as convenient as any subscription, because when you think about it, basically all states act as capitalist entities (and not in the "Deutschland GmbH" conspiracy theory bs sense, but as a way to maximize tax per capita)...

There's this nice #CGPgrey video that explains it:

  • States and Governments don't maintain or build things out of goodness of their hearts but because it increases tax revenue per capita.

I.e. #Germany does extremely-low tuition fees for higher education and universal healthcare not solely "because it's a good thing" or "because health is a human right" but because healthy double-earning academics with children generate way more taxable income, pay way more social security and also spend more money = pay more consumption taxes than illiterates who can barely survive and won't be able to afford good education for their children (which produce negligible tax revenue)...

You Would Be a Terrible Leader

@WhiteCatTamer Thank you for your thoughts, Jay. I'm asking about the principle, not the details. Someone who deal with immigrants and immigration law may have some information that I lack, so I wondered whether, in principle, there are some people he believes should be kept out of a country. Any country, for that matter.

@generalhavok If they were to be kept out of any country, where would they live?

Who would you deny citizenship to?

@WhiteCatTamer

I'm sorry for writing so poorly, Jay. I wasn't asking whether some people should be kept out of every country. I was asking @QasimRashid whether - in his opinion - this country, that country, or any other country should be able to deny entry to specific individuals.

@QasimRashid I'd recommend to refuse to let anyone in without a warrant, refuse to comment and demand a lawyer, demanding to be let go or being "miranda'd".

@sister_ratched @QasimRashid Once they have gotten rid of the "illegals," and they have gotten rid of birthright citizenship they can detain any immigrant without having to grant them habeas corpus. Im not an attorney, but Im glad you tagged me with one. Hopefully, he'll correct me if Im wrong.

@QasimRashid This is what the Anti-Harris protest voters wanted.

Good job idiots.

@QasimRashid
Blaming the weakest, the recent immigrants, for the decline... a typical fascist attitude...
@QasimRashid All power to you in these dark times

@QasimRashid

America is a country consisting completely of illegal immigrants (apart from a few native americans).

@QasimRashid

Do you know what orders they're acting on? Have you heard of a memo or anything? I'm a public defender and I'm hoping to tell clients something more than "ICE is conducting raids at X location."
