Gas-turbine air-cushion vehicle "Sormovich".
USSR, 1973.
@Nick_Stevens_graphics why did production stop?
@Disputatore @Nick_Stevens_graphics this suggests a weakness in the transfer gearbox. With about 2,000hp it’s probably not surprising. https://www.gw2ru.com/history/1232-giant-soviet-hovercraft-sormovich
This GIANT Soviet hovercraft made a BIG splash, but didn’t survive testing (PHOTOS)

It was more than 29 meters long and could develop speeds of up to 130 km/h!

Gateway to Russia
@PaddyTech @Nick_Stevens_graphics I was itching to know, thanks. It actually looked good, so I was surprised that I had never seen it before.
@Nick_Stevens_graphics They're just such a Gerry Anderson kind of thing, aren't they?
@Nick_Stevens_graphics Where can I get one?

@chertridge

I suggest you start at a St Petersburg Naval Scrapyard...

@Nick_Stevens_graphics I'll be right back and let you know.

@chertridge

In all seriousness on one trip there I saw this thing like a giant raft with three upside down jumbo jet engines mounted on it...

I later worked out it was a Zubr heavy hovercraft without the skirt.
