Showing up late to #monsterdon, but it’s not exactly hard to get caught up on this one.

As always, feel free to mute me for the next couple hours if you’re not interested in time-synced commentary on “Invasion of the Bee Girls”.

The main character is played by someone I know primarily as Conan’s dad from Conan the Barbarian, though he does have a pretty robust filmography. #monsterdon
I’m watching this on dvd, where it is paired with another film, “Invasion of the Star Creatures”, which is a very silly early 60s film where the two aliens are of the “big woman please step on me” variety. Definite thematic parallel, though far less toplessness in that one. #monsterdon
Less than a half hour in and already the bee girls have resorted to using cars to run people down. This is not giving me confidence in their superior bee girl powers. #monsterdon
Ah, jeez, for anybody coming late: sexual assault warning around the 30-32 minute area. #monsterdon
This entire science department seems to be made up of hot women and unappealing dirtbag men. Not sure if they’re trying to get everyone on Team Bee Girl, but they’re doing a good job regardless. #monsterdon
At the very least, I’m on Team Not Those Guys. #monsterdon
Man, “research” apparently used to mean “watch short educational film reels”. On the one hand, search engines make things easier, on the other hand, imagine how easy it must have been to be considered an expert back then. #monsterdon
Bee girls apparently big fans of Cynthia Plaster Caster’s work. #monsterdon
A quarantine checkpoint just isn’t a quarantine checkpoint without a crying baby in the background. #monsterdon
“Sorry, I just had this skin treatment and everything feels so lovely against my skin” #monsterdon
He passed the test. He will diminish, and go to the station, and remain Sheriff of the weird college people. #monsterdon
Is this tool testing for bee girls, or lesbians, Mr. Decker? #monsterdon
You don’t understand what motivated them? What about the audience? #monsterdon

Wow, for #monsterdon standards, that was quite a bit of denouement. We had two whole separate scenes, one expository and one closing a romance loop. I’m downright impressed.

Not impressed by the movie, mind you. But denouements are graded on a curve here.

Did we ever get an explanation for running the one guy down with a car, though? #monsterdon
@jmelesky The Bee girls couldn't kill him with sex because he was gay so they drove a car over him.
@RobynGoodfellow @jmelesky That was such an interesting subplot with his widower/lover trying to get his blackmailable/prosecutable love letters back from the secret love nest, and the protagonist was like oh, sure, take them away! once he realized the widower wasn't a Bee drone. It was my favorite part of #InvasionOfTheBeeGirls #Monsterdon
@Configures That was handled surprisingly nicely for a 70’s movie.
