Alarmingly, these apps can't be uninstalled & are capable of sending loan invitations & accessing users’ personal data, incl'g contact lists.. both brands are at high risk of breaching the Personal #DataProtection Act, given the app collects a lot of #personaldata. Only an honest admission abt what happened & concrete #corrective #measures to ensure such errors don't recur will restore #public #trust. Equally #culpable are the #state #regulations who hv remained conspicuously silent. Not a single one has stepped forward to acknowledge the allegations, let alone propose measures to #safeguard #consumers"🤔

"Ministry of Digital Economy & Society said loan apps were pre-installed in 4 million #Oppo & #Realme #phones.. users had already borrowed abt 15 million baht in total.. Patipol, a 31-year-old complainant, said he bought an Oppo phone & found #preinstalled #Fineasy & another #loanapp. He said tt aft #software #updates, at least 10 other apps were #automatically #installed & they appeared to be #gambling apps"
