Mention Pixelfed, get banned on Facebook/Instagram.

Meanwhile, we just started https://respectfulplatforms.org

Every friend you save from Meta's ecosystem is one less person whose digital life can be erased at Zuck's whim.

Spread the word.

RespectfulPlatforms.org - Digital Platform Charter of Rights

@pixelfed “Stay classy”? When were they ever?

But I’ll be sure to check out the ‘mention the Fedi, get banned’ way to step out :-)

@pixelfed We dont care, just make pixelfed working
@pixelfed There was a lot of errors on weekend again. There are not solved UI problems, pixelfed feels half baked and stopped in development. First random error today no notifications.

@pixelfed
oh my, is meta inc worse than x.com !?

that tells something.

@pixelfed move fast and break Meta
@pixelfed ah yes, they stopped 'fact checking' but they do have time to try and 'damage control' the news of the mass exodus without much success, goes to show where their priorities are
@pixelfed Did the same, announced leaving, posted links. Nothing happened
@pixelfed I could put my Pixelfed in my bio without any issues on Instagram. But I had some problems to post stories on Instagram one time when talking about other social media. When I wrote the names of the social apps and tried to send, it just gave some random error and didn't let me publish. When I tried to post again without the names, no error message appeared.
@pixelfed This happened a few years ago, so I don't know if it still happens today.
@pixelfed
May I kindly ask what goals you would like to achieve by spreading the word?
@ploum
@pixelfed i'd be an honor to get banned from Meta.
@pixelfed needs a codename or emoji in the ilk of 'the bird app'
@pixelfed It’s like in Silo. If you say you want to go outside they make you do it.
@pixelfed Thank you for reminding me to delete my Instagram account, I was waiting for a few days for people to see I was leaving and got busy so saved me a hindrance
@pixelfed Trying to log onto pixelfed.social, and it won't let me log on. Tells me the server is not compatible or is unavailable.
@miniosiris @pixelfed
They are getting absolutely hammered (assuming new users, could be DDOS).
There are other piixelfed servers with different federation policies and for different communities.
Try one of those.
@Salvo @pixelfed I already have an account on pixelfed.social, though. Don't want to set up a new one. I have been able to get onto my account using my phones native web browser rather than Chrome.
@pixelfed
Same thing with Mastodon. Discord invite links still work and I post my Fediverse links there.
@pixelfed how is this not an obvious antitrust thing?
@pixelfed so called free-speech 🤡
@pixelfed rather disapointed to see no mention of accessibility or universal access anywhere in these rights
@pixelfed I once got a post flagged and deleted because I talked about how Threads is a lot more invasive to privacy than alternatives like Mastodon, with screenshots of the permissions the app requires

@pixelfed Meta immediately resorting to censoring any references to Pixelfed or alternative platforms *strongly* suggests they lack confidence in their own product, and that they know Instagram/Facebook are inherently less desirable after these policy changes.

This is shameful and cowardly, even by Mark Zuckerberg's standards. Did he not realize what happened to Elon Musk when he tried to pull the same trick? People still left Twitter in droves.

@gjb6138 @pixelfed
And also Reddit when they effectively banned 3rd party apps.

@Salvo @pixelfed True. If these big companies thought they had the genuinely best product out there, why resort to monopolistic behavior?

The answer: because they know they can't win if it's a fair fight.

@pixelfed

Censorship on Mastodon and Fediverse: 😃👍
Censorship on Meta products: 🖕👿🖕

@pixelfed I have my Lemmy and Mastodon addresses (I know you can use the same for both) burned into my FB profile picture.

If I took (decent) photos, I would put my Pixelfed.au address there too.

@pixelfed My Facebook profile mentions that I'm mostly in the Fediverse. I've switched from Friendica to Hubzilla to Mastodon to (streams) back to Hubzilla over the years, and I've always linked to my channel/account. I'm not blocked, though.

I've talked about the Fediverse yesterday and even shared a few posts from other users. Not sure if anyone has reacted because none of my Facebook "friends" are tech-savvy enough to understand what the Fediverse is, much less become interested in it. But I'm pretty confident my account is still intact.
