@vdonnut I like the way Errant handles it: you lose half your money when you decide to end downtime. This accounts for expenses too. Not as brutal, but still if you don’t have the money to level up it feels like you need to go back out and get some gold.
If you go into debt when carousing, then it becomes a problem that the whole party needs to pay off, and it doubles every month.
